I found someone selling a 1991 240sx for $500(probably ****ty but I'd like to work on it)...the ad says that the mileage is high(hasn't responded with the exact numbers yet)...anyways, I'm gonna check it out sometime this week.

which parts go out first on these cars? which parts of the vehicle are notorius for breakage? I just want to know which parts I should make sure are in proper working condition or at least fixable...I'm not expecting too much for $500 just want to get the most out of it 'cause I'm broke a** fool fiending for a 240sx...:D

thanksobese squirrel...

Well i hope you plan to do alot of work on the car, a 240 for $500 is more of a project car... but if you are fiending a 240 i guess nuthing less will do. Good luck on the car.

There are no real problem areas on a 240sx. It really comes down to how well she was treated and maintained over the years. For $500, better expect that not a lot of maintenance was done to her recently, so you better have a mechanic check it out before buyinbg. That $500 may end up being the cheapest part of owning it unless you know what you're getting yourself into. Good luck.

I'm not too familiar with 240sx's so thanks for the input guys!...

besides opening the diff cover is there another way of finding out whether the differential has limited slip? I'm a jeep guy and jeeps, as well as most trucks, usually have tags on the differential cover indicating ratio and whether it has a locking or limited slip differential...

thanks, obese squirrel

My friend recently bought a 90 240 manual hatchback for 500$. The only thing wrong with it was that the speedometer chooses not to work sometimes and the paints a little old. No dings or anything, runs almost perfect. I HATE him for it.
