Ive been pondering getting a G20 for a while now.My plan is to get one in good shape and then add a Turbo (and all that goes along with it)Well Ive been looking for a 5-speed one close to me for about a month.Today I found a 1999 G20t with 5-speed.It has 55k on it.Its got the Cold weather package, sunroof, bose CD+tape deck. The dealership is asking $11,945 for it.So do you all think thats a good price? The body is in great shape(one small ding)and the inside looks great also(except for the stearing wheel..its kinda faded)what are the suspension upgrades on the touring model?

Some of the things it needs are...Wheels and tires-(15's arnt going to cut it)pluss im thinking the brake upgrade wont fit under those little rims.more power-I know its a SR20DE but after getting out of my Spec V it just feels weak so a Turbo is in order.brake upgrade-got to stop it once it gets going

any advice or feedback would help.ThanksDane

The wheels on the one you are looking at are the nicer 4 twinspoke alloys? I think there are some 240 guys looking for some of those.

12,000 doesn't sound too too bad. How much o you guys think it was new? 26000?

pick a good day, talk like you know whats up, bring in 10,000 in cash. I doubt that they will turn that down, if you have that cash.

One photograph constantly repeating in a signature is bad enough, but four?

Dane:

That's the one at Swope Infinti right?I noticed it on Sunday.I always had a soft spot for the G20's, one of te most reliable cars to be had at any price.

I like that one a lot too, hard to find a 5 speed and its kinda low miles too. That SR20DE should readily convert into a SR20 DET...Also John is right, bring in 10,000 cash and see what happens.

Speaking from experience Youd better budget at least 6K on the turbo project...Unless you can do the piping and install yourself. If you decide to use a JWT ECU youll have to use a 95+ unit which requires buying a used ECU to send them for the programing. Is it worth it? Well the car i built put down 300whp and 309lb ft or torgue on a T28 with a GTiR manifold.

HEHE no biggie...I have thought about it...but its such a massive undertaking...not to mention the major expense of just getting the transmission worked...

i got a quote of 5500(level 10) shipped back to me...Then about another 4-5K for the turbo goodies ...not sure if that would cover the engine managment or not as JWT does nothing for the 97+Q. I think the tough part would be packaging it all.

Nice job Terry.I love the hidden FMIC.I got a price quote of about $4k-$5K for the turbo.Im going to start saving ASAP.I think its worth it to have a 300whp G20.Its a sharp looking car,has the Infiniti class and all options, and is original.I want to be the only boosted G20 at the meets.Im looking at wheels right now.Ill slap some tein suspension and some 17 or 18" wheels on it as soon as I get it then start saving for the Turbo. That car you did was a friends car?Does he still own it?

Yeah he still owns it...its only been turboed about 6 months. We dynoed it last month...thats when it put down the 300whp.my suggestion to you is to DO YOUR HOMEWORK, there are lotsa ways to cut corners...you dont want to do any of them. The JWT ECU is the easiest most reliable way to manage your engine...and as you can see it puts down the power.

Yeah NO corners will be cut!Ill be doing it right or not at all. What part of the country are you in?Did you make the turbo kit out of bits and pieces of parts?Did you run into any problems that had you stumped?Have you herd of the F-max turbo kit?

Ill see if i can get ahold of the list of goodies we used.Yes ive heard of the Fmax kit...its actually quite nice, albeit ive never personally installed one...it should net a bit more topend power as the turbo is a T3T04E VS the T28 we used.Problems ...sure....never stumped though:) delayed? A lot of little and some big stuff. Besides getting your engine up to spec, You will have to get the rest of car up to spec, tires, brakes up to spec, but that is a dif category.

Engine Management?Oil to turbo?Larger oil pan?exhaustintake?
