Looking at buying a car for a long highway commute to work. I was looking at a T/L but the transmission issues spooked me. I know the 90s vintage Maximas had a great rep for build quality but how do these later cushier models compare? At 70k it seems pretty tight. Will it still be solid after another 70k? When do the suspension and front end pieces need to go? How does the 5 speed hold up? thnks for any responses

I deleted your other post as you are not allowed to make link to a competing forum. Further violation can lead to warning/suspension or worse, an outright ban.

The aforementioned model years are reliable, assuming PO did not neglect.abuse the car. It's important to get a CarFax report and maintenance history of the car prior to purchase. Detailed inspection and test drive is a must. Problems we've seen are O2 and MAF sensors failures. As with most cars, suspension are degraded at 60/90K miles. It's up to the owner's discretion to replace or not.

Sorry for the mistake. I looked at the car and found some issues with condition of the interior and paint. The interior has a lot of wear and discoloration, like you might find on a southern car from sun cooking. This is something I an used to seeing on Chevys. The trunk lip has roughness in the paint due to moisture penetration. Also it accellerated like a 4 cylinder. A strangely tired 70k car. I passed.
