I'm not sure I completely understand, but I'm trying.

Check out my filter and the arrows:

Is the MAF adapter like what is pointed to with the blue arrow? The sensor is pointed to in green and if you can't get it on the adapter that came with the kit, then put the stock adapter on and attatch it to the filter. YOU NEED THAT SENSOR!

The hose you were talking about is also necessary (red arrow?), and it makes sense to be hissing when disconnected. It's there for a purpose.

Post pics and I can tell you exactly what you need to do

gniknave, what does the red arrow point to? Possibly AIV? I have a cone filter on my car as well and I have no idea what that is.

It's a hose that goes to the black box there the coil wire is located. Not sure what it's called.

ok i took your advise and drilled into my cone filter and put the senser in it but idk what to do about the hose .... it just goes into the stock air box and then sucks air from thier ... would it be ok just to pu that hose back on and run a breather to it ? i'll post a pic when i get a chance

The AIV it is. (Air Induction Valve I think) IIRC it's only purpose is to feed fresh air to the cat to help it heat up quicker so that the time during which it is reducing emissions less efficiently is reduced.

Just put a breather filter on it, or remove the AIV entirely. Many of them seem to go bad at some point, so lots of folks just do away with them entirely. If yours isn't causing problems though, it's much easier to just give it a breather filter.

Are you asking what to do about this? This is the AIV. See my last post.
