So I know that I don't want another oiled air filter for my ride. I didn't really have a lot of problems with the JWT on my 240sx, but I also don't need to screw my MAF. I would like a dry filter, but a cone type as well. I've found that apex'i makes them, and so does HKS, but does anyone know where to buy one for the VG33E, and whether or not (for sure) that one for any VG33E will fit a qx4?

aem makes dry flow cone filters, u can just get an adapter and a dry flow filter from aem, but do u guys know if the jwt filters are dry flow? and another question do you know of any dry flow performance drop in filters?just wondering because i started getting rough idles at start up with a k&n and so i switched it out to oem and its acualy smoother and better mpg.

my JWT was an oiled filted. . it's pretty much a K&N :oI liked it, and never caused a problem on my 240sx, but if I have the option of not worrying, I'd take that. The AEM filters seem decent enough

I got an adapter and an AEM dryflow to play around with, but I'm wondering how well it will work.A) The AIT sensor is located behind the front bumper and is connected to the pipe leading from the resonator -- I can't just plug it into the intake like I did on my 240sx. This will read cooler air than the intake is actually getting, and I wonder what sorts of problems that could cause

B) My bigger problem is that a vacuum hose currently connects to the airbox, and I wonder how I can make this work. . have you done this, and if so, how'd ya do it?

what my friend did for his vacume line on his pathy is he drilled a hole on top of the plastic part of the filter and sealed a fitting and it works.

That was my plan. . good to see someone else did that. Is it bad that I want a little extra growl? I know filters aren't as popular in the R50 world, but I think it should be fun to play with this thing.

I got no complaints with mine, I don't go wheeling so its not as big a deal with mine. Definitely has a slight growl to it.

Only wish mine came with a heat shield, but I plan on making one whenever I have enough time/motivation.

Very nice. .

I don't really wheel mine much, nothing very serious anyway. . not like I have many places to do it around here I could go to the badlands offroad park tho. . that'd be fun

The IAT doesnt actually do much for engine control. For awhile mine was just dangling around the intake and collecting mud, ive since cleaned it off and extended the harness so that it could go inside the cone.

Well that's encouraging. . I may eventually do that. . on my 240, I had just stuffed it in the cone and tightened it down right on top of the wire. . haha

Went with the AEM dryflow -- used the AIT hole for the vacuum tube, and it works fine. I like the extra noise, but it def. seems a bit more responsive.

Well, not much of a setup per se -- just a filthy engine bay with a grey AEM dryflow stuck where the airbox was. Also, the part where the vac tube goes is real ugly lol. .

I think I paid 50 -- just a filter, but it's dry, and washable. I got scared of screwing up my MAF sensor.
