Ok, the car is a 1999 non touring silver/black q45 with 97k miles

here are my assessments and can you guys give me a bit of feedback on whether its normal or not

two suspension observations

1.the car was very floaty on the freeway, it bounced a bit over bumps, not harshly but it gently bobbed up and down after bumps, I'm wondering is this normal for non touring y33s? all my other cars are lowered on coilovers or the other two are a i30 touring and a g35 coupe so maybe its me being too sensitive.

2. There was a bit of noise over bumps on city streets like the suspension was not in the greatest condition, like the strut mounts or something wasnt doing their job Is there anything i should replace on it? sorry i cant give a better description its not a metal on metal sound or anything but the car just doesnt sounds solid going over bumps primarily it was the front that made some noise

Transmission- The car had a 1-2 shift under normal throttle that I was able to feel. I personally dont mind, but cars like the 98+ ls400 and ls430 were seemless is this normal?

Headlights- do all 99 Q45s have the xenon dual beam xenon headlights or some non tourings still have the single 9003 (H4) headlights this car had the single beam headlights which is raising my eyebrows...

can anyone give me advice from a current owners perspective?

thanks

1.) You need new shocks, either stock from Joe or KYB SR Special from OneTonGarage. You will need all the rubber and front bearings also.

2.) See above and check other suspension components for wear or degradation, especiall ones with rubber.

3.) Have you done a mechanical fluid exchange and added an ausiliary ATF cooler? There is a discussion of the 2nd gear shift in IOM.

4.) Xenon low beam only. YOu should have the rotary 4 postion heaklight tilt adjuster to the left of the steering column.

A snappy 1-2 shift isn't unusual, particularly after the transmission fully warms up. Note that after a cold start, 4th gear (overdrive) is disabled until the transmission fluid starts to warm up.

All 1999 Q45s had Xenon HID low (outer) beams; the high (inner) beams are still Halogen. The Touring model also had the area between the low and high beams blacked out. (Nissan News link to 99 Q features here). If the vehicle you're looking at doesn't have HID low beams, you have good reason to be suspicious.

thanks guy.... the headlights tripped me out because the front end doesnt show any sign of damage but the headlights are definitely the 97-98 ones. The car has all the 99+ features like the analog clock, new trunk/taillights, front grille and the rear sunshade...

shady shady eheh headlights are like $1200 a piece list price for the '99-01 tourings

All 1999-2001 FYG33 have the HID low beams. About $900 each from Joe.
