My girl is looking at getting a new car in a few months. She really likes my car but thought it would be dumb to get the exact same car as me.

So we went to the Nissan dealership, thinking that maybe she could take over my notes and I would get a Sentra.

But I have to say, after looking at them, I can't figure on why in the world anybody would want a Sentra over a Versa. The interior is god-awful UGLY and not half as functional and not nearly as comfortable, and it's actually SMALLER (no leg room whatsoever). And you're not getting any extra power really, unless you go for the SE-R.

It's just a strange situation Nissan has wandered into. I never see any Sentras on the road, which is weird because I always thought it was a nice-looking car. Now I understand why. Not that it's a terrible car, but it has no purpose. The Versa makes it look bad value-wise and the Altima makes it look bad in every other way.

No offense to any Sentra owners out there. I just thought it was interesting.

The Sentra's interior is terrible. I don't know what the Japanese brands are thinking with these stupid console-mounted shifters, but just because there's no transmission tunnel running between the seats doesn't mean the shifter can't be there anymore.

It makes it easier for the passenger to lean over the center console if you know what I mean.

The biggest reason why the Versa won me over instead of the Sentra, there is a lot more legroom in the rearseats than the Sentra. You think the Sentra is more expensive than the Versa, you would get more legroom. Well, that is not the case.

How about not being able to install an aftermarket deck without losing trip anyone?

The only sentras i see that i give a double take at are the SER. I still remember my high school gf had a Stanza!!!

Beginning of Aug 2009, wife and i tried to get a Sentra but no wheeling/dealing by the dealership since it was beginning of the month. We were trading her 99 Mits Montero Sport in for it.

Last weekend of the month w/CFC ending, she did some research on the Versa, Fit, Yaris, Accent. Fit/Yaris was priced alot higher so skipped it. Accent, didn't really want to get a hyundai. So Nissan it was that we went back to. This time they were willing to work with us on pricing.

Ended up getting the 1.8S HB OTD for $11k at Browns Nissan Sterling, VA.

I was never much a fan of the newer Sentra's until now. At the time when I was looking to buy when I compared the Sentra to the Versa I was surprised how much more leg room the Versa had over the Sentra and that lead me to buying the Versa instead.

Also before I even bought my Versa I had planned on changing the deck and that was not possible to do in the Sentra. (Unless you get the SE-R now)

I think the idea is so it looks like a rally car but I've never seen Sentras used for rally, and besides it was an automatic.

If Nissan took the Sentra, and put the exact interior from the Versa in it, I would buy one in a heartbeat.
