I started to disassemble my head tonight and look what I found.

The only reason I can figure this happened is a combination of JUN valve springs, stock retainers and 8500+ rpm.

And look how clean I keep my engine with lots of oil changes

i am not sure, but i heard that stock ca retainers were already titanium.

LOL, I don't think the military was even using titanium back in the mid 80's when this motor was designed, much less Nissan.

But yea, that's pretty crazy. I've never seen a busted retainer before. You're lucky it didn't come flying apart on you when you removed the cam. Good luck fixing it!

I was wet outside and I was going to work. I was beating it pretty hard like always and it didn't seem as rev happy as usually. I got to work and heard a diesel idling next to me. Unfortunately there was no diesel next to me and the noise went away when I turned my car off.

So to sum up, it sounded like the air pump on a semi or dump truck.
