Getting a black car straight and shiny is very difficult but matching a black car is relatively easy, black is black is black. As compared to white which forgives all kinds of bodywork errors, scratches, dents, orange peel etc. However, matching white is incredibly difficult, one extra drop or one less drop of any added color changes the entire can.Haitian_King wrote:I see.
It be easier to do a black car right? Whenever you get the time, you think you could do a write up on Q body painting? You have to strip the car down to it's primer base right?
You can trust MAACO, most of the result is in the prep like Wes said. If your car's body is straight then all you have to do is tip the tape guy $20 and the painter $30 for an extra special job.
If you wanted to spray yourself, you need a big air compressor and a $100 HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray gun. The gun I used cost $95 at Napa auto paint and Iused the cheapest paint line they carry.
Painting is an art and a science, you have to luck a little bit with the color and the texture of the paint but everything else is predetermined.
Try it-don't be scared all you can do is screw up the paint on your car.....
