I found this while searching for 300zx parts:http://forums.clubsi.com/showf...age=0I know we're not supposed to link to that place anymore, but I think that that swap deserves to be seen by you guys.

Fred, if you find this inappropriate, just delete it.

yeah it is, but it is definitely unique.

I couldn't quite understand why he didn't just beef up the OEM engine.

But hey, the Engine/transmission combo only weighs 300Lbs ! That is extremely light . Did you see the weight distributio? 40/60 = Rear engine car style handling.

But hey, it does look cool with all that space in the engine bay.

But would putting a 4 cylinder in your Q45 be cool cause it would change the weight distribution and leave lots of room in the engine bay?

Well, I don't know about a 4 cylinder. Maybe a SR24DETT or something.

But for the Q45, a RB24(5)DETT would be way more appropriate.

I think putting the Skyline engine in the Q45 would be cool . But unfortunately I don't have $10k to drop into a swap like that .

But anyway, I just thought it was kind of "neat" because it was/is so "radical". I mean, how people have done that swap?

it seems a little under powered. if it was the 4 rotor 26B (i think) and turbo that then it would be cool as hell. The weight distabution is really nice tho. i give it a 5 out of 10

Ya, it is really under-powerede. I think he said somewhere around 350HP. If you factor in the weight loss from the swap, that's probably comparable to 400~450HP from the OEM motor .

Anyway, gotta love the nearly 10K RPM Redline .

on the under powered thing you gotta see some of these turbo rotary guys putting 400 whp and remember that's an S30 with the lighter drivetrain it's gonna be easy to get it close to 2000lbs, I can't complain about that ratio

IF THAT WAS A 240Z.... THERE ARE A FEW ROTARY AND SR20 ROADRACE GUYS WITH SUB 2000 LBS CARS WITH FUEL AND THEM IN IT.

WITH A FULL FIBER FRONT, FIBER DOORS, AND HATCH WITH LEXAN GLASS REPLACEMENTS.... YOU CAN LOWER THE STOCK WEIGHT OFJUST OVER 2300LBS TO SUB 2000 POUNDS THAN REDUCE ENGINE WEIGHT BY OVER 250LBS AND YOUR AT THE 1800LBS MARK.

im not a rotary genious. hell im not even a genious at anything. I must have missed how much HP he said he was putting down. I was thinking 200-250. But if he does get 350 that would be insane. And i didnt know he could lightin the car that much. i was thinking alright 200-250hp motor in a car that still weighs 3000lbs curb weight.

Since i am more knowlegable about this now. That car is great. More power to him.

the early 240z's came from the factory weighing abour 2350lbs so they start out light and can be made much lighter, I need to get mine on some scales I am guessing mone at around 2200lbs with me in it, and with my 220 whp and 260 lbft it's a rocket
