I didn't read the guy's reason for not using the warranty, but I assume since he had a flashed ECU and some bolt on engine mods, the dealership won't honor the warranty.

sorry guys, I dont think there is any need to knock honda in this situation.. Go outside in any of you nissans, and downshift 7k 5thgear RPM into 2nd. I think the result will be similar.

Feel free to knock the driver.

It was probably the exceptional build quality of the Honda that prevented the idiot owner from being killed by a flying engine bit.

Note in the pictures, the crank mains still held together, even though the pistons/valves crumpled like aluminum cans. I've witnessed V-8s blow under similar conditions and throw rods THROUGH the hoods. I've seen the aftermath of 2 different DSM's that launched conrod nuts through the block, like bullets.

I hate to see a nicely built engine ruined by human ineptitude.

I heard a similar story about a brand new 350Z. I was talking to the sales manager at the local nissan dealship and he was telling me about this kid who had gotten a brand new 350Z Track for his birthday or something. Anyway, He was flying along and was taking an offramp and decided to down shift, from 5K in 6th to 2nd gear. Needless to say it shelled the motor. And then he fully expected the dealership to cover it under warrenty! What a jackass, and waste of a very nice car. Grrrr

I dunno i kinda find it weird now that i look at it, my friend did that in his Prelude SH, It didnt do anything other than lighting up every light on the gauge cluster, but i dunno, maybe he got lucky.
