I'm not sure of the rim width or the tires used, but I know of the size being 275/40/17. It's on a 300zx but I am curious, it may sound rice, but I love this kind of look.

How does one achieve that? Stiff sidewalls on the original tire? I notice that people love the stretched look, where the tire is ultra mega stretched, jdm dorifto tyteness lol, and i know it has a purpose of sorts, such as preloading the sidewalls, making them stiffer if the tires' sidewalls originally are not, but what about this?

I know it sounds like a ricer question but whatever . It's like an in between of a stretched tire and a bubbly tire.. it looks just right.

You mean a tire that actually fits? Better be a wide wheel for a 275...

Oh, there's no pic and this is the wrong section.

Yeah really, what are you talking about?

A square sidewall, you mean a tire that actually fits the rim? That'd be a new trend these days. I love watching the thread that show 225's stretched on 10.5j's. Total fail

275 fits on a 9.5 inch rim

I have 255's stretched over my 9.5's (just to clear the fenders, but Ive seen 275's on the same wheels and they sit flush with the wheel)

full race's time attack s14 fits 275/40/17 on a 17x9 rim.. and it looks also 'square'.

and this is the pic i dont know why its not showing up its a 300zx with a 275/40/17 fitted on an unknown rim (to me anyways):

The S14 full race time attack car has 17x9 inch MB Motorsport weapon rims (not sure of offset) and Kumho V710 275/40/R17 tires F&R.

I was researching what I'd do for my S13, I was going to go with 17x9+10 rims and 255/40/17 tires, however, I am now opting for something larger, 275/40/17 so I found out people fit that size onto 9" rims, although it seems unheard of on this forum... not sure why, it seems the 'only' way to fit a tire is to stretch a tire along the community here...

Still not sure what kind of fitment issues I'd have, I know that the fenders would need to be pulled or wider, however not sure of the offset I'd need to fit such a tire... due to inner clearance. Outside clearance is not much of an issue as inner clearance rubbing. Fenders can always be custom made, fabricated or at least modified.

I don't have scans of the magazine in hand with full race's specs and car pics, however their cars is awesome...

On the other hand here are the same rims (at least size wise not sure about offset) as the full race car EXCEPT instead of 275/40/17 tires, these are MB MotorSports Weapon 17x9 5x114.3 +17 with 215/45/17 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 tires.

On the other hand

275/40 on 17x10 fronts, thats square, fits like a 255 on a 17x9

what youre talking about with a 275 on a 17x9 would still have a bulge, which wouldnt really be what you originally described

also you cant run 275 front on an S13 without extensive suspension and fender work and custom wheels, s14's have far greater inner clearance compared to s13's

depending on how much power you have i still think the best bet is a 245 or 255 front on a 17x9 with something either the same width or an inch wider in the rear

also you cant run that kind of size wise if you dont run a tire to compensate, slicks like the kuhmo's Brady runs have such stiff sidewalls they dont flex even when mounted like that, depending on what tires you want to run being slightly undersquare is the best way to really get a nice stiff sidewall for optimum handling

I've been running the 275/40 on a 17x9 (+17, since someone asked) for years now. Ideally a 17x10 would be better, as it's more square.. I've run that setup too. 17x9 with a 275 has a slight bulge, but not too bad. Not to pitch my car being in a magazine, but this pic shows it well. Look at the rear tire to get an idea.

The tires on the car don't have especially stiff sidewalls either.. IMO it doesn't "ruin" the tire to have it bulging out on a wheel like that, but I can't say there's a benefit to running a bulged 275 over a square 255, on a 9". I've run 275s on a 17x7.5" wheel and it felt fine... who knows, there are so many variables, it would be very hard to quantify the difference.

I run 275's in the rear on a 9" wheel.

Looks awesome, not too much bulge.

Brady dont you run v710's?

those are plenty stiff sidewalls for that kind of mounting, theyre much stiffer than something on a UHP level

I was thinking of running a Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD07 unfortunately they only come with a 255/40/17 size. I currently run Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tires, I was also considering them and they are offered at 275/40/17.. however I was thinking of going over to neovas, the gs-d3 sidewall is very soft though... I don't want to run all out slicks or pure R compound tires. The GS-D3 come up to 315/40/17 even which is quite nice...

phoenixs14, i love your car, according to d-sport magazine, your setup is 17x9 not 17x10. I might have misunderstood you, that you mentioned that you run 17x10 on 275/40/17 setup.

Man i should have bought an s14 not an s13... pissess me off how hard it's to fit tires and wheels due to the crappy inner clearance... 17x9 +17 hah... I need 17x9 +10 to fit a 255/40/17 properly on the front...

I fit 255/40's on the front of mine without problems... they JUST grazed the inner fenderwell, nothing I couldn't fix by whacking it with a hammer.

I have *tried* 17x10s before, but I normally run 17x9.

im looking to mount 245/40 on 18X7.5 in the rear. i have 225/40s on the front and plan on keeping that size for the front.
