Hay, why not make a buck or two...

Anyway, that is the DIY line in the sticky, right? Could this be used with a standard T3 inlet flange? I'd feel more comfortable with the proper flange.

Also, how does one convert from "an" to inches? What is "an" anyway?

Flange, defenitly have to have the flange.

AN is Army Navy, it is an aeronautical standard. Also very expensive stuff. The number 10-AN, for instance, represents the number of 1/16ths of an inch. So 10-AN = 10/16 = 5/8. 6-AN = 6/16 = 3/8. Get it?

Thank you, good to know. So, I can just look for 5/8 ID stuff to make my return line.

That is what I am going to do, is use some 5/8" pipe nipples, but I think I mentioned that already.

What kind of "nipples" are you talking? I guess I could get some stock steel and make a couple of flanges. Brazing ought to hold don't you think?

I was out with my engineer friend last night and I brought it up and he confirmed that turbos have those flanges for a reason and that a virbating hose will, over time, be likely to cause a fitting to break off if it is threaded directly into the turbo without the flange.

I might even try a Ford dealer since my turbo is from a Ford. Hope it's not like $49.99 each.

I would go with welding rather than brazing for that reason. And no it probably is not as likely to break off, but I would be surprised if it ever became an issue (if you welded). A nipple just looks like a little piece of pipe about an inch long. They are used for butt-joining two pieces of pipe.

Oh, and try ebay. Those flanges are everywhere, and cheap. Just use antisieze since they are aluminum, or you could be worse off than my idea.

Cheze, how are you suggesting using this nipple? To go from hose to hole & from hose to bung?

BTW, the Ebay flanges are aluminium. I think it should be steel or at least brass.

Weld one on the pan, and using another and some sheet metal, making a flange with a nipple, then using hose and clamping it down.

Aluminum should be fine, the only thing will be to use antiseize anywhere they contact to prevent electrolysis (sp?).

Or just cut a piece of 1/4" steel and drill and thread it.
