I started my KA swap last saturday (on the 4th) and just got done with it last night. Damn that took a long time!

I got an S14 motor, so I had to swap over my old intake manifold (and of course the ex. manifold). The motor was a ***** to line up with the transmission (possibly due to the Nismo mounts?) and little stuff kept going wrong.

Somebody accidentally left some old gasket material on the intake manifold when they mated it to the head, so that had to come off and get fixed. Once everything was put back together, it wouldnt stay running longer than 2 seconds and I couldnt figure out why.

This went on for a couple days (until last night) when I finallly figured out the damn PCV hose wasnt hooked up. DAMNIT I HATE THAT HOSE!!!!

So I get some long plyers in there to hook the hose up to the PCV valve and it freaking rips. ARGHHH. So I drive across town to pick up another one and manage to get the hose hooked up.

Get everything back together and it purrs like a kitten. Today I gotta do the timing and then make sure the hood is gonna fit back on (engine sits higher now cuz of mounts). Oh yeah, it was like 30 degrees out..and that sucked

Anywho...thats what I've been upto the past couple weeks.

Swapping a motor in a week and a half isnt too bad. I'd be happy if I got it done that quickly my first time. Was this your first swap??

Glad to see you got it replaced. Week and a half isn't that bad concidering what went wrong. On top of that if you had work. I hate working in a cold garage. Your body seems to tense up and get bad cramps faster when you have to lay on the frozen concete. I had to change out my rear subframe about this time last year. I got a heated garage now.

Thats a lot of crap to reuse from s13 motor to put s14 motor in a s13.

I was going to re-use the motor from the wife's s14 once we swap in something else. Figgured it would make a good engine for a daily driver s13.

A week-long swap isn't bad...At least you can work in cold weather. I would've waited for spring.

It took us a week to swap a new motor into this camry out at the shop, and we have air tools, every piece of equipment you can think of, lifts, etc etc. So I do believe you did pretty well time wise. Congrats on getting her running though.

Thats not tooooo bad. I put about 30 hours into mine. Glad you got it running though. I forgot a ground and couldnt figure it out for about a full day. My timeing was perfect, but i tore it down again, redid it, still perfect and would turn on, idle for about 6 seconds and die. It sucks to miss little things!

Well I disassembeled the head on my car last August. Then got a motor that was running. So when and took everything off the motor.Month ago took 5hrs to take out the engine due to bolts rounding off and my friends forgetting about the shifter(bent as h3ll now) sticking through the car.Got the other engine in, in about 30minutes about 45 minutes it was all bolted up and then spent a while hooking up hoses and no it won't start....usually spend couple hrs a week on it think I got it solved now going to try tomorrow.
