alright bishez. I'm back. needed a break from the car for a bit. working on it in the winter is a *****.

i left off with the megasquirt. i made my wiring harness and finished most of that up. i needed somewhere to mount my EDIS coil and here is what ive come up with. this was the first time i used the mill. so forgive me.

i havent take a pic with the holes drilled and mounted to the motor. instead of doing all 8 like stock i just did 2 in the front 2 in the back. thought it would look clean and less of a hassle unbolting all those bolts to get it off. i plan on doing another one with some better bits. now that i have a little more experience. so what do you guys think? sorry for the pics. i used my phone and uploaded them through picture mail. once its 100% i'll use a real camera.

oh and its painted red just to see what it would look like. its not staying red. i'm getting rid of the timing belt cover getting tomei gear and a pretty timing belt. the valve covers and coil plate are getting a chrome powder coat. not as shiny as chrome but looks like polished aluminum.

Ok, now they don't fail.

Your engine sits very low. What kind of mounts are you using?

beats me. i thought it was normal. gives me plenty of clearance for the coil though. i never really noticed that it sat so low. but it could explain some things.

Hm, maybe its because I'm just really high. Dunno. Looks low though. I don't think I could have gotten my coil to sit on the plug cover without cutting a hole in the hood.

I see the pics just fine. Very nice on the cover especially for the coilpack placement. Just make sure its properly grounded.

Could you make me one? I'll talk to you on aim.

its definately aluminum. but i dont have aim right now. im on my girls computer. but you will have to elaborate on the grounding part. i will only make one extra though. for you julian. because your the reason i got into this whole megasquirt bs in the first place. if i ever get on aim we'll talk business.

If you look on the coilpack, where the bolt holes are. You'll see like metal strips that go around on the coil. That part gets grounded, usually it already grounded because its attached to the engine which is attached to the battery. Some peeps say you dont need it, by why take a chance. Ford says it needs a ground so Im not one to argue with the manufacture. You could just stick a ground strap on the cover.

Anyways yea man I'd appreciate if you made one for me, I tried making one and unfortunatly I dont have the right tools to make a clean straight cut and I gave up on the project.

I dont need a cutout for the coilpack the way you have it before the cut out is how I would want mine.

Let me know a price, my Powder Coating business is doing pretty good so I have money to play around with and I'd like to start dressing up my engine bay.

It doesn't look like an S13 to me? The AC stuff bulges from the firewall, and the strut towers look structured differently. Is it an S12 ?

S14 then?

After some google imaging, it looks like S14.

Anyways I was wondering cause that could be why it sits "low".

i dont know about an S14, but that passenger side hump in the one picture sure doesnt look like any S13 I know of. the AC system on my S13 is on that side as well...... hell my break booster is mount differently too and behind my engine.

It sure does sit low, I didnt even notice the first time I saw the pictures. guess the shiney coil cover was distracting .

the way it is sitting I bet you could even use any strut bar..... there is no way mine cleared anything w/o spacers, or getting a CA strut bar.

Then again....... maybe it is just because the intake mani mounted?

so you have chrome powder? you have an example of what it looks like? but you will have to give me an idea of what you want. do you just want it plain? with the stock 8 holes to bolt it down? basically a stock remake? i can have it done by this weekend. and i'll ship you my cover and valve covers, and your cover. deal?

also can you blast them or do i need to have that done. can i just send you my covers straight off the car.

Yup I have chrome and silver. to be quite honest I dont like it, doesnt have enough of that mirror shine. I'll take care of the prep, when it comes to valve covers I prefer to use Chemical Strippers instead of blasting. Sometimes the media gets stuck in the baffles and eventually trickle down into the engine and chew up bearings.

Heres a pic from the manufactures site.

This is chrome.

As for the cover, yea I just want it plain with the stock 8 bolts. Nothing fancy.

Heres that Honda ECU project im working on zerothread?id=309650
