1)Thats horrible for them to screw over those who give them hard earned money to help run their site, totally despicable!

2)The only raffles we have are at meets and they are free out of our mods pockets.

3)lol sounds like a good prank, too bad we dont do it to some special members..;)

looks like the mod forum is closed again I just registered and tried to get in.I know a lot of you dont like the honda guys but we are all enthusiasts and seeing that site so badly broken despite all the hard work that must have gotten into it..

Someone claimed it was a prank I am not averse to believing it since hackers tend to do stuff like that and what was written is simply so unbelivable.

But it was so unbelievable that it seemed fake.

Ive seen some pics of the real mod forum vs the fake, they have a good reason to call prank. but still, you have to be pretty stupid to pull something like that agasint your members

If it was a joke, they would be incredibly stupid to do something like that. I sat and read all those posts that were copied, it would have taken hours and hour and days even to make all of that. All that work for a joke? I think its real, and that they are scumbags.

It would be nice to belive that everyone on the internet is there to help eachother out but that just isnt the case. Internet crime is very real and very big, using a forum for a internet scam is something most people wouldnt expect.

why plan for several months a joke that happens in like one day? Why go through the process of creating hundreds of individual threads? Sounds fishy to me.

yeaa I donno I thought it was a little weird that they were talking so openly about screwing the members over for "bonuses," etc, plus I STILL dont understand where the money came from that funded the banning of members... it really just doesnt add up.

but then again what do I know, there is always somebody runnin' some scam or another.

The money for banning memebrs give sit kinda away in my mind.As a mod/Admin I know what gut wrenching process it is to ban one of own own it it really only happens when someone is clearly a detriment to our community.

To create extra banned members just doesnt make any sense.

But if it is a prank that also doent make any sense, those guys should ahve known better and been able to predict what would happen to their site.

Really sad regardless,...

banning people makes them reregister (if they want) and therefore they would have more email addresses to sell

way to go on alienating your own members

Who ever heard of a honda owner that doesnt have any respect for; other honda owners, the import community, car enthusiasts, or innocent freeway traffic.

You're silly.

I read all of the copied posts…there is some conflict

For example when they talk about the number of warning they have to give…one said that 10 it is too much and should be 5…on a different thread they said the number is 50. and should go down, they never mentioned how many to ban…you would think that at least once they would have motioned it

Also they talk openly about the scamming…very openly…sounds like they are trying to get caught…

But then again I agree that faking this is stupid, and takes too long

This whole thing is strange…but I guess will have to wait and see

yeah I thought the openess was a little bit TOO obvious. like "HEY ARE WE GONNA STEAL FROM THESE POOR SUCKERS LIKE LAST YEAR!?" It's like cartoonishly evil, it doesnt fit.

The warning requirements though, I think there were different requirements for different boards... at least thats what I read.

People speak openly when they think it will never be seen by prying eyes. Some people will do anything for some extra cash.

Money income:-selling email lists-advertising

As previously stated, the more people who register, the more emails they can sell and the more advertisers will pay because of the bigger audience. Banning doesnt erase users from the database, but it does force them to re-register under another name falsely bolstering their user numbers and adding email addresses. Its totally posible, but nobody will really know i guess.

Just go to the ****ing forum and read what went on.

They mods got bored and decided to pull a prank a few months ago. They created a fake mod forum back in Nov, that they populated with silly threads over time. Then they registered a fake admin who was a mod and "caused havoc"

What advertisers look at almost exclusively is hits.

And that you cant fake.

Also some of those sentences <do> sound "cartoon bad guy".

yeaaa I guess that does make sense... there was a lot of stuff that just didnt add up... the mod forum was awfuly small, that jewler advertising guy said that he never did any bisnuess with them, none of the mods were saying anything at all, etc etc etc... I beleive it was a joke, but it's a pretty uncool one... thats gonna taint their reputation for a loong time: true or not.
