He's at the track right now. He ran a 16 flat when he was intake and exhaust...His first run KA-T he ran a 15.7. His clutch should of been changed 3 months ago. If it wasn't his clutch slipping, it was it catching and breaking his tires loose... Told him to take off the line easy and take it to 5k and shift, shift around 6250 in 2nd then haul a55 to the finish line.Stock 180k. Homemade turbo kit. Running 5-6lbs. He has raced high14-low 15second cars on the street and beaten them. When I was at the track with my stock motor at 8lbs I ran a 14.7 and 14.5 2.6 and 2.8 60' I couldn't get out of the hole for crap. He ran a .2 and a 2.0 when he was nonturbo.....He's doing one more run tonight, maybe it'll be good.

Yeah man, isn't it funny how that works?!

I couldn't pull anything better than a 16.5 on my stock 1993 DOHC...and I killed it.

When I went KA-T, I ran about 4.5 PSI at the track and ended up pulling a 14.6 @ 96 MPH...which I thought was decent considering the car was on low tread, stock pressure street tires, and fully fully loaded etc. Thing was, it took a bunch of embarrassing 15-sec passes to get it down because the lightened flywheel and KA-T thing can be finicky with traction loss when launching. Even at this PSI, I was spinning the top of 1st and sometimes 2nd as well. It would either spin off the hop, or bog heavily.

In short, I hear where your friend is coming from.

Let us know what he runs tonight.

Yes sir,

Its time for a new clutch. I ran an 15.8 when i was N/A.

my first attemp at the track with my KA-t setup yeilded an 17.2 becuase of slipping clutch. after the clutch broke in i turned an 13.8 at 104 mph @ 6 psi.

Nice time!

Isn't it ridiculous how much a little boost can drastically lower a KA's quarter-mile?!

Aluminum foil heat shield Some one donate some money to this guy so he can get some heat wrap. J/K What ever works i guess.

I ran a 16.0 N/A and now i have run a 15.2 at 93mph with a 2.6 60' on 2psi. Didnt want to launch with a stock clutch since it is my daily.

I ran a 15.6 @ 87 in my DOHC when it was NA. Haven't taken it to the strip after I made it KA-T... But yeah, it's pretty challenging to do a good launch on KAs, turbo or not. I ran 17.0 @ 88 the exact same night I ran the 15.6.

There's more to drag racing then reving, dropping the clutch and shifting gears.

Without drag radials or slicks you're going to want to slip the clutch to get rolling. The dump method simply shocks the drivetain and brakes the tires loose. A little slip buils boost and makes a HUGE difference in the 60". I've cut 1.8's in a FWD Sentra with street tires.

Laucnhing is almost everything in drag racing. Get the launch down first and work on the rest later. Shift slowly at first, by slowly I mean clutch all the way in, shift, clutch out. NO speed shifting, thats not taking your foot off the gas for those who don't know.

As your launch comes in you can slowly increase how fast you shift through the gears. The key is consistancy. Show me a guy who repeats a certain time down the track like he's bracket racing and I'll show you a good driver.

Thats not really the point though is it? The point is that the aluminum worked as a heat shield and kept the MC from melting into a puddle of crap. Does it look awsome...no, but I didn't see him trying to get his car into Import Tuner either.

Use what you have to the best of your ability.

My car and my nightmare stories of the brake master cylinder. It has saved my car for 2years now. The 2 times I didn't have it there = instant death. $260 went bye bye because I forgot to put my $2 heat shield there.
