what is the best way to secure you wheels to the car against theft? Are there certain locking nuts better than others and should I use two different brands of locking nuts per hub just in case they have a universal key that fits the most common locking hub brand. I ask not because of the area I live in or place I work at, but because of the clubs that I go to here in Miami and some of the lots are not the best to leave a nice set of wheels lying around.....thanks

None are honestly better than any other. Nowdays people will steal your whole car and strip it later.

Thieves will put jb weld into a socket, stick the socket onto your lock, come back later and remove your wheels. There is no stopping them, there is only an insurance deductible and a headache to deal with after the fact.. Just always be paranoid of where you park and adjust your habits. that's the only answer i know of.

get the wheel locks, spend the $ and put 5 on each wheel to deter the most determined crook and to have the wheels stay in balance,as they are heavier than the standard lugnuts-or go with one per wheel and an aftermarket alarm with a good shock/motion sensor to detect jacking up the car and impact needed to remove the locking nuts

Rob, try Gorilla lugs, they deter the amature (as people have said nothing will stop the pro) and look better than 1 single socking lug.

i use mcguard. been using em for like eight years now. u really could put locking lugs on all four or five but u would b pissed if u lost a key or if u took ur car to a tire place. lol. anyways, this is all the more reason to either keep a low profile, or b more aware of ur surroundings

Thanks for the advice....I went with the McGard locks which are expensive at $79 but worth the piece of mind knowing that my wheels should be still there when I return to my car.

I would have ordered the Gorilla ones as I like them but you have to order through a distributor and not from the website you posted. They gave me 5 numbers to call in Miami and 3 of the 5 said that they don't deal with that brand or want to special order the 17mm skinny nuts that I need and the other 2 shops said yeah we can get them but you have to come in to order them and it will take about 2 weeks. I have had bad enough luck with tire shops here in Miami so I am went the McGard's that I ordered over the phone in 5 minutes from Cali and should arrive by Saturday. All the Lexus guys are running these and really like them a lot. Those guys put us to shame in the amount of monies they spend on wheels...I think that a few sets that they are selling over there used could buy a nicely used 90-96 Q45.

By the way, the ones that Nissan and the Infiniti dealers sell (as a Nissan labelled product) are made by McGard. I bought a set and the internal registration label goes to them.

okay...I think I found out what lock is the best. Apparently the Gorilla Guard lock with the spinning outside shell is the best. All the others can be taken off in a minute or two by somebody who knows what they are doing with an impact wrench and several different attachments. The Gorilla with spinning shell can be taken off, but need to have much more time and a special size L-wrench (sp?) to get it off. If I find a good & easy distributor of the Gorilla locks that will not take 2 weeks to order I will get a set of 4 for my car.
