I was just wondering why I'm seeing some newer trucks & SUVs without a locking gas door. For example: the 2010 4runner and Xterra do not have them but I'm pretty sure they did have them last year or a couple years ago. Why did they stop doing this? Were there some malfunctions with them or they just saving a few bucks?

My guess is saving a few dollars. But locking doors are 100X cleaner than non locking in my option.

I agree, It looks much cleaner and better secured. The non locking looks cheap and old fashion. I can't believe Nissan and Toyota are doing this on some of their nice models.
