I dont know if this will work or not, but sometimes you can rig a clothes hanger into the window (just go through the weather stripping). Just make a hook at the end, and keep trying until you get it.

Get the VIN number to a dealer and he will make you a new key (in exchange for $$).

If you go sticking things down the window be prepared to destroy the locks and electric lock mechanism...much more costly than a locksmith who should be able to open for $100 in NYC but it may take time and cost more.Antitheft is pretty effective on Q. Experienced can use special tools and flip the lock from over and thru the top of window rubber but this may damage the $200 rubber seal.

I can do it in 5 minutes but the plane ticket would be costly.

Opened a new LS430 in 3 minutes after other tried for days and did $500 in damage trying.........must be in the genes.

Sounds like the key-by-VIN route would be the cheapest! Even if you pay $95 for a brand new factory key, it may be better than the alternatives... You might be able to get an aftermarket key cut at the dealer for about $35, but I don't know if they can cut them by code or not.

Looks like you're gonna need a new key anyway to prevent this from happening again. No need to beat and bang the Q trying to get the key out. Go ahead and buy another one from the dealer!

Well after price checking for keys(150.00wait a week),side window(impossible to find) a locksmith wound up being cheapest(65.00) and when I saw how he did it I could have done it myself took him 2 minutes.Least I know how to get in in case it happens again.Looks like I need a spare alarm remote and key because this darn car seems to lock itself even with the keys in it..Thanks for the suggestions..

My '94 has a gremlin in the passenger door. It tends to lock itself, as well. It is best to keep a spare close by.

AAA is about $51 per year ($10 sign-up fee waived) and they cover lock-outs.

Make a copy of the key and keep it in your wallet if you carry one. If your car requires a key with a chip don't get that as a spare because any locksmith can cut a key for you without the chip for about $6 and you only need it to get back into the car anyway.
