HELP!! PLEASE!! I recently purchased an i30 which had a few issues. The ones that apply to my problem are as listed. key didn't fit driver door, car was broken in to which resulted in many wires hanging loose, 2 non-operating remote entry units, cover to fuse box missing, no manual for car, very narrow key which broke off soon after buying it. So, key broke off in ignition a while ago and I accidently locked the doors a few nights ago. I have been using my half key to start as the other half remains in ignition I was able to gaIn entry in car, but it set off alarm. now, I am unable to start car. I can't get other half of key out to make another one, and not even sure if it would matter anyway, because driver side lock does not unlock /lock w/ the key I have. Can you put key in passenger side or trunk to shut off alarm? Does anyone have the scoop on how to disarm it? I am desperate to get it going. My only means of trans. Thanks. I can be contacted at [email protected]. I have never posted on any site, so if I have done this incorrectly, I apologize. Once again, thank you!!

WELCOME TO NICO!!!You posted just fine.

You could probably pull the positive battery cable and reset the ECU. That will probably re-set the alarm. As far as the ignition, you can buy a new ignition switch, from one of our many sponsors. Check the Maxima forum, one of the sponsors are giving a 10% discount through Christmas!

What year is your car?

my car is a 1996. I pulled the battery cables, alarm fuses, and the relays. I've been told it has a back up battery. I'm not familiar w/ the "ECU" you mentioned, or at least not the term. What is it? Thanks!!

This is sooo frustrating. I purchased the car for next to nothing, and you get what you pay for. I live in Phoenix and I refuse to buy an expensive car here, as I have had 4 cars stolen from me in les than 10 years. The first 2 were fully insured, but of course they found them and neither car was ever dependable again. The interior was trashed also. I decided to not carry the pricey insurance the past 2 times, and of course, they never found them. I had a 300zx that I put a small fortune in to restore it, and five days later , gone. So, this car was broken in to, the stereo, cd changer and aftermarket amp were ripped out, leaving the wires hanging everywhere. Oh, I was looking on ebay earlier, and I found a disc for sale that incliuded info on installing alarms, stereos, electrical schematics. (I have never needed to spell that), and much more. I don't know where this was created or for whom, but could it be helpful. They will sell it today for 19.95plus shipping. Is it worth it?

By this time tomorrow night either Maxhopper or myself will have found and posted those same schematics out of the FSM (factory service manual) for you.

I would find it right now, but it's way past my bedtime.

ECU is the electronic control unit, aka"the brain" of the car.

Pebbley, I have tried and tried, but I finally got the FSM info in my files, but have no way to host the photos. Photobucket and upshizzle are both broken. I'll send you an email with them.

And it won't let me send that much through an email. I would have to send you like 6 emails. I really will get this working, and get the FSM info to you!
