Locked out of 05 Murano

I am replacing the power steering hose, no easy feat, and for safety have disconnected the battery. The car is at work so I have locked the doors. Now I find that my key will not unlock the doors without the battery connected. Can't pop the hood to reconnect the battery. Local nissan dealer says blade key should open the car, but it does not. Is there a way to reach through the grill to pop the hood latch? Is it possible for this car to have electric operated locks with no mechanical connection? What would people with dead batteries do? I'm stumped.
