So, I locked both sets of keys in the trunk of my car. No big deal I thought, pop the trunk from the inside. WRONG. I had been transporting some guns so I had the remote trunk release disabled and the glove box locked. The locksmith AAA sent out was unable to get it open. I'm wondering if theres a way to get the glove box off without opening it, or, before I start scouring wiring diagrams, does anyone know which wires I can cross to turn the trunk release on the door back on?

If all else fails, you could probably remove the rear seat and gain access to the trunk that way.

Sure, go right through the gas tank.

Valet key?

If you have the code, you can have one made.

Dear Ryan,

If you remove the rear seat you can then remove the deck and one of the rear speakers accessing the inside of the trunk.

(The following is from memory on a 1992 and may vary slightly): The rear seat is easy to remove. Bottom first, two clips, then lift out. The rear has several philipps screws and pulls forward and up. The rear deck snaps in. Using slight pressure, pry off one attach point at a time. The speakers mount from the top. So, you can access the screws holding them in. You will need a stubby phillips to access the rear screws. Be careful not to slip and puncture the speaker cone. Remove the speaker and then you should be able to peer into the trunk.

Good Luck

Thanks for all the tips guys. I did initially (before calling AAA) remove the back seat, but I couldn't get the parcel shelf off, don't you have to remove some screws from inside the trunk? Anyway, not wanting to break anything, I didn't pull very hard on it. I didn't see a hole in the firewall between the back seat and gas tank to reach through, though I'd need stretchy arms to have reached from there to the back of the trunk where the keys were.

What I ended up doing was pulling the trim panel under the glove box off, and then I un-screwed the hinge and pulled the bottom of the glove box door out enough for me to reach and and flip the release-disable switch.

The valet key and remote were locked in the trunk along with my normal key. The extra key also has my gun lock keys on the ring, and so that set usually stays in my range bag with my pistols. I had just packed my guns in the trunk, and for some damn reason set my keys on my amplifier, something I never do. I closed the trunk and was half way back to the front door before I realized what I'd done.

Oh well, its taken care of now. Thanks again for the input!

Good going, Ryan.

I was wondering if the glove compartment would come apart enough to get to the switch.

Why would one not have a spare key taped to rear of auto tag?

Not like anyone would be so foolish as to steal a Q with my secret fuel pump disabler.

It did, but just barely. The door made some noises I didn't really enjoy hearing as I pulled it enough to slip my fingers up there, but it still works as normal. The door doesn't move as smoothly when opening and closing as before, but its a small price to pay.

Sorry I didn't see this until the problem was already fixed, but will post for future need. I had to do this because the Lock had been destroyed on an auction car.

Per the description above you remove the deck lid, and my memory is fuzzy here , but something comes out and give you access right in the middle of the car over the top of the fuel tank.. from here you can get a flashlight in to see the latch mechanism.. you have to have several long extensions and unbolt the latch. the trunk opens!! I was able to figure this out at the time by looking at a car in a wrecking yard..

The part that comes out is the storage area between the speakers. I suspect it was designed to hold a first aid kit or the small FSM. It sounds like the carpet covering the trunk lid was missing on your auction car... all of those latches are covered pretty well. I know this because I once locked myself in there... had to rip the trunk lid lining around the latch to get up in there and detach the rod that attaches the lock to the latch. Then I could pull it to get out.
