you mean the gasket that was all broken from the original strut that i just threw back on there? that makes sense. i just installed new struts and springs. kept the original upper mounts.splintercell wrote: what did you install coilovers or new shocks? the metal sound could be the strut assembly against inside shock tower. there is supposed to be a rubber gasket in their for noise. i just used a bead of silicone when i installed my coilovers
correct! that lock washer might go under neath strut nut in the middle of assembly.Tonyman wrote:

ill try that silicone trick before i take apart the hole strut assembly to put that washer thing back in were its suppose to go.
that will work...i think i used rtv gasket silicone i had lying around. anything that forms a rubber consistency when hardened will work... ive never had a problem.Tonyman wrote:so what kind of Silicone rubber should i use. Silicone rubber Caulk? or a different kind
n/p vancouverbc has good pics of same thing i didTonyman wrote:Thanks for the help Splintercell. im going to do that tomorrow. i dont want to have drive on it makeing that sound anymore.
yes, it keeps the rotation of the shock from unscrewing the threaded portion on top of the shaft. put it back on.Tonyman wrote:
the thing i circled in the picture is the piece that i left out. think its important? haha
i dont think that would have made a diff. I ditched my stock susp for coilovers as soon as i got the car so i never fooled with oem stuff.Tonyman wrote:ok so i put the lock washers back in and used the silicone as the gasket, but i'm still getting that rough sound. its quieted down a little but its still noticeable.
i had to go to school right after i got it done. do you think because i didn't wait for the silicone to harden that it might not have settled right?
any other suggestions on how to fix it?
