just finished my first engine swap on an Infiniti- a 92 Q45. Having trouble starting it, runs very rough and Check Engine light on- had it read and states Crank Sensor 4 wire plug- my question is that I am not sure which sensor this refers to and its location- Any help would be appreciated along with any other suggestions. I have Service Manual but having trouble finding it in there also- guess I need magnifying glass! Thanks~

CAS is driven from drivers side exhaust cam. It really should be called cam sensor but assumming the crank to cam drive chain is correct and not stretched it accurately infers the position of crankshaft.

The 90-93 CAS has a cable with connector on end and a connector on the CAS body. Two separate backup circuits as a fail safe..............1 degree and 90 degree pulses to ecu.

thanks- found the sensot and removed the existing one and carefully re-installed the new one - slid righ tin smoothly up to about 1/4" from block then stopped- have tried to jiggle it and have removed it and could not find anything in the whole that might stop it short- double checked two units side by side- same numbers and look identical Any ideas what is causing my problem?thanksandy

Align uni position CAS foot [ /] ] with cam slot.................. I have a feeling this is going to get messy.

You do have a variable timing light as once you find the hole slot, you then get to adjust precisely.

you are right it is getting messy - seem to be able to get it aligned with slot and it then goes in but still leaves me a 1/4 inch gap- it I don't get it lined up then the gap is noticeably bigger -- is there a trick once it is in the slot? thanksandy
