Yup, that'll do it. You no longer be governed, nor will you be able to start the car ....

How did this Blake guy get to be a staff member??????

TOTALLY OFF TOPIC - Adidas, do your blades run over your Stillen decal? The oh-so-lovely Margaret sent me a windshield decal with my exhaust, but the blades run over it. They've been on since May and I've had no issues, except a corner of an "L" came off.

Let me know, because she's sending me a new one and if I have to place it higher on the windshield, I'll do so.

Thanks bud

Taking out the ECU will basically kill the car. Any fuse or anything I could just take out that will disable it or do I have get a new ECU in general? And where the hell is the ECU in this car?

Haha, theres no basically to it. It WILL kill your car. You would never be able to start your car without the ECU. Unless you had a performance stand alone EMU or something similar.

The only way to remove the governor, It to reprogram (reflash) the ECU. Or have a different computer system running your fuel and ignition timing. Its an expensive thing to do in cars these days. I'm doing it in my car, because Im getting a turbo. My Split Second Fuel/Ignition computer will now be controlling the engine.

For every 07+ Altima, the ECM is directly to the left of the battery. Here it is, circled in red.

Okay kool. Now as far as the re-flashing goes. How would I go about doing that? And is it possible to do it myself or would I have to take it to a performance shop or a simple mechanic? Cause I want to go faster then 120mph and the governer also limits torque potential so I am not getting full throttle power and I want to really see what this new puppy can do haha

An ECU reflash will take a highley developed computer program. Only a few companies in the world have the capability to do it. There is no one that has accepted to offer to do it on the Altima Coupe yet.

it's not hard if you know the programming language and have an ecu dumper or any other dumping program + some soldering skills.

dump the ECU on your pc. then you search for a numeric value of your maximum speed in it with the ECU SDK or an hexadecimal editor. then you try to analyse the surounding code and you can either increase the number to someting crazy like 200mph or just remove the instruction that is associated to the loop.eg:

if (value >= 120) throttle = CLOSE

you remove that thing or just edit it like this

if (value >= 200) throttle = CLOSE

Hey, how many of you have found that you HAVE a speed govener? I've had my A/C up to 130 mph and it could have kept going as far as I know, I was just at the end of the bridge and to be safe from a ticket, I let off.

If you happen to remove the speed limiter by some form of miracle and kill yourself because your stock tires exploded and you slammed into a moutain you're family can't sue Nissan!

don't think so, I went over 200km/h on a straight empty 4 lane highway at 3 am.
