I went w/ a friend to a local car show yesterday and we were just kinda looking around and i was thoroughly disspointed because it was 98% muscle cars and old fashion cars. It used to be all imports but something happened a while back with the cops and so the whole show got moved and then everything went down hill from there. Now what really upset me the most is that we met this kid up at the show w/ a brand new Mitsu EVO 8. Don't get me wrong, i love the car and its great and everything but it was just bone stock... he brought it to a car "show". Whatever little things like that annoy me but that wasn't the big thing. My friend asked the kid w/ the evo if he had an aftermarket blow off-valve or something and the kid replies something like "no, i don't have a blow-off valve. Its internal, it goes through the exhaust" and i was just wanted to beat the hell outta the kid right then and there. It turns out this is the kid's second evo 8 too. He wrecked the first one and his mommy and daddy instantly bought him a new one. I still couldn't believe he didn't know a damn thing. Anyway, he left and then an old purple dodge neon w/ a faded paint job and chipping clear coat pulled in where the evo8 was... he then proceeded to rev his engine a few times and i left... The import scene is sooo horrid where i live. I could go on about some other stuff at the car show but i'm a horrible story teller so i'm sorry i had to bore you all w/ this crap. I just really needed to vent.

Hot Import Nights was in Chi-town this weekend you could have went and some an awesome car show. Don't feel bad though the import scene is pretty lame here, but it is growing, but then again so is the rice crowd. On the plus side I will never go home hungry!:D

Then they invented the car show for people who wanted to show off the different kind of things they could do to the cars so they were no longer stock. If i want to see cars in stock form then i'll go to a dealership.

I entered into a car-show last night it was the local SVT club so alot of mustangs and muscle cars (all very nice) then in the sport compact class there was me with my 240, a few beetles(who cares), 2 focuses(both riced), and a bone stock mini s. The SVT focus with rims and clear tailights and cf hood and crappy spray painted engine plastic got honorable mention while the stock mini won I was so pissed. It is stock and in a car show. The point of a car show is to show what you have on a car not what it looks like off the showroom. Plus the guy that owned that focus his boyfriend and him came up and were askin about my car and i was like shes pretty fast i bet i could take your focus and he just laughed like it was all fast. but he had a system and playstation and tvs in it and he had intake and exhaust for performance so power to weight ratio is a little down on that one. Sorry im just venting and *****ing about the gaywads that thought there focus was cool and the stock cooper winning

A stock car in a car show is not a terrible thing, some cars stock are just nice to look at. Say a r34 was at a car show, it was stock, would you say it was not worth looking at? Or hell, ferraris even. vroom vroom

true, but the cars you named are a lot more than 30k and werent made to look like it's counterpart in "2 Fast 2 Furious".

don't hate on muscle cars, thats when you start to cross over to ricer side. I understand how american cars are usually of a lot less quality than japanese, thats why my entire family drives imports. But you have to recognize when a car is pretty damn nice. Much like how I recognize that Kirk Hammet is a good guitarist, yet i can still have the opinion that he's a complete assbag and Metallica sucks. (St. Anger is the worst song ive heard in a long time. And the album conatins no solos! NO SOLOS ON A METALLICA CD!) but that's another story in and of itself.

Anyways, my point is, If your VIN starts with J, you have a higher quality car and it's probably gonna be cooler to work with and mod out, but at the same time don't automatically say because there are no japanese cars at a show that it sucks.

i'm not hating on muscle cars at all. far from it. I was just commenting on how what used to be a good import car show became overrun w/ muscle cars, classic cars, and a few ricers. I've grown up around muscle cars and classics. Everyone around me owns mustanges and old vettes and yatta yatta. I respect 'em. But i just prefer imports.

i know what you mean. that wasn't a post directly to you, thats to anyone that happens to read this.

our local car show sucked from the beginning. people had riced out cavaliers and mustangs. Yes, Cavaliers and Mustangs with japanese kanji running down the sides, altezzas, and bbs rims. and the kid that came in 2nd place had cut his exhaust off with a saw. The kid that came in first had no performance mods, he had a basic celica with the racing package and a tv in the dash. and 12s in the back.

Unfortunately, my favorite car, the 1986 GMC Jimmy with rust holes and a giant "Muddweiser" sticker across the windshield didn't place.

i respect any car that can pull it's front wheels off the ground because of sheer torque...

i saw a guy pull a wheelie in the street just for reference...he came around a corner, and then stomped on it...the front wheels did in fact lift...this was from a 10 mph roll or so...it was amazing...it makes me wanna build a GTO or somethin

i think this was a chevelle 67'...mighta been a GTO or somethin of that sort, there are alot of similar lookin cars tho

I wasnt saying that i for one love muscle cars just cant afford the insurance and my parents wont let me get a V8. My dram car is a Mustang Cobra you cant beat 390 hp and 390 tq out of the box. But the focus was riced out imo it was gay. If a r34 had beem there and in my class (sport compact)then ot wpi;dve been cool but not a 23,000 dollar stock mini. Mini's are not great and rare like an R34. If it had even 1 afternarket part i wouldnt have cared that much but it was stock nothing on it no intake exhaust rims nothing. Granted they are good looking cars but in a tuners car show it doesn't belong.
