We won't argue about this, but statistically speaking, you're WAY off base.

Your experiences with a 16-year-old car with a rebuilt engine are not very representative of the brand. That's like a guy with an '89 Cavalier with 250K saying, "Chevrolets are really reliable!"

Keep in mind who topped JDPower's initial quality AND initial customer satisfaction index this year. BMW would do anything to see the top spot.

Run some state registrations (requires law enforcement clearance, sorry) and compare how many 1990-96 BMW 7-series are still registered & running with how many 90-96 Q's (just an example).

Hell, the 240 is a great example for comparison - how many 318's are still running? How many MB C230's? Lots of 240's still going strong.

Infiniti provides loaners out of a CONTINUING respect for the customer, not that phony, superficial, temporary snotty "respect" you get when you enter a BMW or Benz dealer. BTW, Lexus (as much as I hate them) is not necessarily like this - their customer service (aside from loaner policy) is solid.

Sorry about your luck with the rebuilt motor. Was it a Nissan OEM replacement item? If so, you may have recourse if it is still in warranty. If it is anything else, it has no connection to Nissan as far as any guarantee.

You will get to know your Bummer mechanic very well!

Sam Swope Infiniti is terrible about giving loaners (and overall work in general).

I think there policy is to only give loaners to well-dressed, middle-aged white males. When I talked to them on the phone they said I could have a loaner for sure, since I was only going to be using the car in the area and for one day. When they saw I was only 18, it didn't take them long to decide that they didn't have a loaner program at all.

That's an insurance issue. If you're under 21 they can't give you a loaner.

it is still under warranty. I was given a 2 year warranty when it was installed and its been about 3 months since that. It's had numerous different repairs done, including lifters, bearings, and now it's on to a headgasket.

Robert, tell us where you live, and you may get very specific advice. In MD-VA and then in N CA, I have found that some dealers always give a loaner, and some never do.

I’ve done most of my service at Prestige Infiniti of Englewood, NJ. They have given me G20s, J30s and I30s. Not as good as my Q, of course. Guess what I got the last time, A FORD FOCUS!!!!! What the hell. Needless to say, I’m looking for a new dealer now.

My wife took her car 330i to BMW Manhattan and they said they had shuttle buses that would take her to work in mid town Manhattan and pick her up. It wound up being the day the bus was broken and she had to walk to work. What BS.

Work as an auto insurance claims adjuster. Rental agencies treat you like kings. Certainly, not for free, but I've gotten some really great deals on rentals. I even had one my work was paying for since one of our own insured's hit my car and the rental agency gave me an SUV instead of the intermediate car I was approved for. And I was able to rent before I turned 21.
