If you haven't heard of these - Monroe makes a line of shocks with a built-in coil spring which can correct suspension sag and increase level load carrying capacity.

Unfortunately Monroe doesn't make a direct fit for the R50 Pathfinder / QX4.

Does anyone know of a brand that makes this kind of shock for our trucks?

I'm tempted to order a pair of these http://amzn.to/Z5lbVD and see if I can modify the mounts to make them work on my 2003 Qx4.

Anybody have experience doing this?

I don't know of a load adjust shock for these trucks, but you might check out "air lift load support air springs" at carid.com.

I think they would do the same thing, and be a softer ride when you were not carrying a heavy load, as you can reduce air pressure when it is not needed.

Thanks for the idea. I've seen those before, but from what I've heard air bags can make the ride very harsh.

For what it would cost to install that kind of setup, I'd probably replace the rear springs first.

Bump...

Anybody heard of someone attempting this? If not, I'm going to order some shocks and see what I can do to make them fit...
