hooked the wideband up today went through the free-air calibration, let it warm up.I have a safc-2 installed in the car and have a Mines ecu tuned for my set-up.550'sz-32 MAFT-28195 walboroRedtop sr20detit goeson but,the wideband reads Im running rich like,15.1 to sometimes 22.4.weird thing is I have to increase the correction on the SAFC2 to lean the readings out on the LM-1.I thought it was the opposite?Show less air for less fuel.? right?I get the readings about where they should be but when I hard rev the car it bogs real bad and a cloud of smoke comes rolling out the *** end.Now I put the corrections back to 0% all across the board on the afc.the car runs rich but revs great and very little exhaust smoke.I am stumped.starting with the fact I have to increase the afc settings to lean the A/F ratio out!?WTF..One other thang, when I recorded about a minute of a run in park.I noticed the A/F ration bounced all over the place from 9.2 at Idle to 22.7,?back and forth with those readings when I rev up to around 5500 slowly? Please any help or suggestions would be a god send.thanks Spotteddawg

to understand how to adjust the fuel, you must understand WHAT A/F RATIO MEANS!!!!! a higher a/f ratio is LEANER, not richer. this information should solve all of your problems, though how you came to possess a wideband meter and didn't know how it's read is beyond me. i don't mean to sound like an jerk, but that's the kind of stupid crap that kills cars.

Cruising under vacuum should be around 14.7 AFR. Building boost should be around 12.5-13.0. WOT under full boost should be 11.5 - 11.8.

Just so your clear. 10.0 (Rich) - 14.7 (Stoich) - 20.0 (Lean).

Okay I deserve that, point made and I had the two mixed up.Thats why I came here for my question.I, like some are in the process of learning and by no means trying to upset people with stupid questions.sorry and thanks for the answer. It seems I have read so much in the last three days, searching through the forums for anwsers that everything is running together. It seems Im more confused after reading, than when I started.I'll take a break and start fresh.Im oldschool and not use to the electronic tuning. seems to work well with everyone and Im trying to keep up.I like how there is still hidden power to be found using the tools avalible today. yea I got bashed pretty hard on the other sites, I did get the two mixed up.But the thing is when it ran really lean 17.7 let say and I turned the afc up showing more air was coming in.The computer sees that and increases the injector pulsewidth thus adding more fuel, right?if that is right than when I slowly rev up to 5000rpm it bogs and smokes will hardly rev and the LM-1 is showing the mixture is still a little lean, say 15.0.I guess that was the real reason for my post, not understanding ,increasing the afc, showing lean, but the car is running like its dumping fuel.could it be a timing issue? Thanks Guys and thanks for keeping the bashing down.Spotteddawg

The same day I installed the safc2 but when I put the Mines ecu in I made the correction on the safc2.The ecu was programmed for the z32 550's frontmount and with all the reading I have done I needed to reset the safc so it didnt need to compensate for the z32.In essences cut that feature off.use afc only for airflow correction.

Do you have the SAFC set to 2in 2out? Thats what it should be set to if the ECU is programmed for Z32 MAF.

2in 6out running the Z32 on Stock MAF ECU. 2in 2out running the Z32 on a Z32 MAF ECU. If neither of these work then your ECU is junk or the MAF isnt wired up correctly.
