Finally got a chance to hook up the romulator to my spare SOHC ecu, turn the car to on, load up a stock map in Live Edit....and the fuel pump relay clicks continously. When the romulator software is set to "pull soft", it doesn't turn the fuel pump on at all. Car cranks but will not start. Romulator socket is in the correct way (markings on zif socket and romulator socket match up). This ecu is in working condition.

Help me!

I havent personally used the romulator/live edit setup but i know others who have used it succesfully with sohc ecu. I cant offer any decent help, you should try contacting Lawerence the creater of Live Edit he may be able to lend some helpful info.

One thing you could try, although i would contact the romulator manufacture before doing this, is setting up your emulator on the bench and insert the eprom extension to your chip burner and try reading the .bin with everything in operation mode. The burner should supply the eprom (or emulated eprom extension in this case) the same voltage during read mode as the ecu and not fry any components.

Is this a new romulator you just received and has not been succesfully used on any other ecus? It would be very difficult to diagnose any problems without being able to read the exact output from the romulator.

All i can think of, good luck!

Thanks for the help devious, the car actually did start with a stock KA map about 30mins after i posted this, i'm 99% sure that the romulator socket came loose (i had the lid of the ecu on with the romulator unit attached to the other side).

However, live edit has some small problems with the KA, the main one being rev limiter errors if you decrease/increase the limiter, change to another map then switch back. I have contacted lawrence about this, but have got no reply.

The car does seem to run rough-ish on a stock map compared to my stock ECU that lives in the car. The ECM light also comes on when changes are made to the map whilst the car is running.
