guys...

I'm a little worried that i've been doing all this work and its not going to fix my problem

... I had the good old white smoke POURING out of the exhaust after I pulled one of my injectors to take a look and cranked the engine while the injector was still out.

So a combination of opinions led to the idea that it was the head gasket. While ripping apart the engine I found my spark plugs COVERED in oil.

however, when i got down to the head gasket... to be honest.. it looked fine...

Can anyone here take a stab at reassuring me that it still can be my head gasket :P?

I'm picking up new head bolt washers from the dealership tomorrow and from there I'm going to continue reassembling this beast of a ka24de.

thanks for everyone here at NICO for their continual support in all our quests for keeping our cars running

Pics are not close up enogh, take a close inspection of your head gasket, even the smallest dent, fray, detachment will make it leak.

Oil covered plugs are either worn rings, worn cylinder walls or a combination of PCV valve failure causing the oil to be forced into the combustion chamber..all of which are bad.

Do a compression test to eliminate the possibilities.

Do the head holts not get replaced on a KA24DE? Because I can not find them.

Well, you answered your own question sort of. A leaking head gasket is not likely to cause oil to leak into the combustion chamber. However, having said that, you really need to check the valve stem seals and guides. Honestly, if you already have the head off I would strongly suggest replacing the valve stem seals reguardless of how they look because hopefully for your sake it is going to be a very long time until you remove the head again..... Check the guides also because although I am not too familiar to nissan heads in particular most japanese aluminum heads didnt have very durable valve guides as they are just part of the aluminum casting. But like was mentioned earlier the most likely causes for oil getting into the cylinder are rings, cylinder walls, pcv valve, or valve seals and/or guides.

p.s. reguardless of what the true problem is, you would have most likely had to remove the head anyways to fix it..............
