Now I know everyone loves to flame the people who ask about "free mods", so I'll say that I realize I may not get any gains whatsoever out of this, and it's really just fun little crap to occupy myself until I've got enough cash saved up to do real stuff. With that said:

I was reading up on here about cleaning the throttle body out, and I thought I'd do it, as I've got like 70k on my car, and I'm sure it's never been done. Then a friend of mine with an NA FC3S said that he filed the screws on his throttle body (on the little rotating plate) down so that they sit flush with the plate, allowing, in theory, slightly greater airflow.

I am thinking about doing this, regardless of the fact that it almost certainly won't do anything noticeable (hey, it's free). Anyone on here do this or ever heard about someone doing this?

This was sort of a specific question, so while I searched my a$$ off, I couldn't find any threads specifically addressing it.

Then why bother if you're so sure it won't do anything. That line says to me that you actually think it will do something.

Don't waste your time.

don't waste your time... oh and I hope you were planning on taking the TB off the car before you file the screws down..

beacuse the little filing thingies will go into your engine.. and that is not a good idea..

Yeah, as I understand it, the guy with the FC took the TB off, removed the screws, did all of this, and then put the screws/TB back on.

I was just curious, I had never heard of that being done before.

And it saves weight too!

I seriously doubt that you'd experience any measurable effects with that. Little projects are cool...just don't expect anything.

you know... there is a big piece of metal right in the middle of your throttle body. imagine the gains if you just took that out!

lest we forget the butterflies in each of the runners on that KA turd. i'm sure those things don't impede flow at all.

Those butterflies are known as the S.C.V. valves.

And his KA does not have them.

You can perform normal maintenance and keep your car in the best condition before mods. Also you should get some RAID for those butterflies, I couldn't resist.
