so i used some universal piping laying around my garage and i decided to make a nice looking CAI... heres a pic...

thought i was all done so i went to start my car... chug chug chug, it wouldnt really start... so itried again and opened the throttle a little and it started up... barely... it was idleing rough and i revved the motor and it stalled....

now the stock inake piping has some hose runnning off of it... one to the valve cover (mine has a filter on the valve cover), one to the Idle air control valve and one smaller hose.... i noticed that i forgot to hook up the little rubber hose to the intake. i tried to follow it but i couldnt figure out what it lead to... would this effect my idle and dose this need to be hooked up to the intake? here a pic of the small rubber hosing that im talking about if it looks familiar

what exactly is this for? thanks in advance dudes and dudettes!

EDIT: BTW.... in order to get the maf sensor to plug in i have to extend the sensor wire like 2.5 feet.... could this be why i have bad idle?

Im pretty sure those lines run to your charcoal canister. Just cap it all off.

No but a huge vacuum leak will cause bad idle conditions. Also the tube you have you're hand around is the tube for idle, on your new intake setup it must be that same diameter otherwise your car won't have enough air to breath and die.

Also your intake doesn't look air tight and because of the mafs it needs to be.

ok. one lastttt thing. does the fact that i took some like 16 or 18 gauge wire and extended the wire leading to my MAFS by like two feet (because it wasnt long enough to reach it under the battery tray) have anything to do with it?

yeah i soldered them really good.... and i just checked my CEL... getting code p0100 (MAFS malfunction).... im baffled... why would it throw that code if all i did was make the wires longer? :gotme gonna put my car back to the way it was if i cant figure this out

figured out what it is... if you look in the second picture behind the tubeing that im holding you can see the clear hosing thats connected to the IACV... turns out it was pinched a little bit and wasnt letting the air come through that good... problem solved :dblthumb:
