How does that engine restore wortk? The stuff that can be bought for 4,6,8 cylinder applications. Is it advised to run this in the Q? is it a gimic? Also, is it safe to run in a full synthetic oil?

BG Quick Clean just before (10 minutes at most) an oil change or http://www.envirolution.com will get the sludge out of your oil pan.

BG Quick Clean works really well...I've used it twice now (once for each car) and thought it did a dandy job of cleaning things up.

Great info for me guys! How would you compare BG to using something like Seafoam before an oil change?? I know BG makes some incredible products.

The reason they make them for 4, 6, 8 cylinders is because 4 bangers have less oil capacity than 8 cylinder motors.... You wouldnt want to over concentrate it.

Seafoam is so diluted with random petroleum that it is hardly effective at doing anything. Why they are sold over the shelf... Owners shoudl probably have ot get prescriptions for additives [car drugs] to use on their cars just like they have to get them to use drugs...

You dont want to use those things because they are probably too harsh and can cause more damage... The BG quick clean is your best bet, it cleans very effectively and its not very expensive...

That's pretty much what I thought wes. Ever since your Q sludged itself to death I have been terrified of sludge build up and have been putting good synthetic detergent oils in and such in to protect against it. My 92 has so many miles on it that I almost want to drop the pan to check. Know what I mean? Anyway, I'll have to use it. I love BG products anyway.

Thanks

My 2L Alfa Romeo 4 cylinder holds 7.4 qts.

Wes is right, skip the Seafoam. It is largely a placebo.

I looked at your Q and the under the valve cover condition looked about average, about like my current Q which is reasonably clean...

I wouldnt worry so much.

BG Quick Clean is to remove varnish in HLA and maybe some ring varnish.

Sludge usually cannot be removed without a pick and shovel and removal of the individual components to the parts washer...............still need tools to get to the chunks. The generic kerosene and pine tar oil products usually don't work well but after a dozen treaments can help some.

Careful of the fluro, bromo, chloro [halogenated] hydrocarbon solvents and PCB's, as Pancreatic Cancer of the handler is common after exposure.http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/...9/841

There is no magic bullet to clean up years of abuse other than daily/weekly oil changes.

Absolutely! Change the oil HOT. This will help a lot in getting rid of the varnish.
