Little brother w/ bigger car

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I liked both...To carry passengers definitely the FX. Performance wise the EX is faster and handles more like a coupe then the FX. I didn’t get the tech / nav pkg, but his FX is loaded with technologies. Very nice!

yea that's true. I def enjoy the stance/look of the FX more it's just the overall size and shell shape that put me off.

imagine EX35 with FX-esqe headlamps....drool

Rio, you know me pretty well from the forums, TRUST ME, you will not be dissapointed! Nothing against the EX, but the FX50s is an incredible vehicle. I just passed 5 months, 6000 miles and it has been flawless since day one. No noisy fuel pumps, no steering rack groaning, no leaky sunroofs. Not a single complaint. I did have the transmission flash performed, not so much because it was shifting poorly, but I figured when I had it in for it's 1st oil change I had them check if it was one of the effected TCU part numbers, and it was, so I had them do it. The only thing I would be cautious of is your plans for maintenance. Everything will cost you more on this car so be prepared. Even an oil change takes EIGHT quarts of Ester or synthetic oil. I opted for an elite plan which includes the "top secret" ;-) Nissan Ester oil and all major services, so I am covered, but even that plan was not cheap. Other than that, knowing how you love to drive, this vehicle is made for you.

Hi Rio. Not to be mean or anything… But how can you literally run out of things to do on the EX? By looking at your mod your car is basically stock…RS-R just released their coil over for the Skyline crossover, there are endless selections of rims available, exhaust system from header to axle back, turbo kits are also available for the VQ35HR… Sky is the limit, so I don’t understand how can you ran out of things to do...

Big deal... I've never had any of those problems either.

EibachMBZ... I still like the looks of your EX over the FX.

mmmm this thread is a bomb waiting to explode...so how bout we play nice before e-feelings start getting hurt?

w/e your preferences are, I think we can both agree that the FX and EX are both amazing cars. There are things about both that are good and bad, which is why we end up with what we get...most of the time.

Let's keep this civil ~

The FX isn't THAT much bigger than the EX, however, I really hate driving SUVs, if it werent for the fact that I needed to "grow" up, and get something that procured the image of post-college, career man, i probably would've gotten the G37c AWD, ~ with that being said, The EX was perfect, just a lil bigger than the sedan, and not much higher (i have this feeling of loss of control when i'm too high up, mostly cuz i feel like i'm swaying left to right) .... however, the FX does have the more appealing design ~ well head/taillights, and stance, tho certain aspects of the car, like the grill totally put me off. ~ Don't get me wrong, that grill looks sweet far away, then as you get closer you kinda go...

then you factor in things like, the car is a commuter car, i'm using it to travel 20 miles to and forth in traffic every day, i want something small, but still a lil higher up..... vs. ooo let's go all bad boy and get that V8 and a slightly larger shell to pull around traffic where the avg speed is like 10mph. ~ so for me, the EX was perfect, and left me with some extra cash to tinker with another car if i choose to do so

and to keep this thread on topic, eibachi does have a body kit on his, so I would say it looks more unique than the std FX, for now, i assume if they're related his lil bro will do some mods too.

Hi, Eibach,

Two great-looking vehicles. Congrats to both of you. My EX is the same color - there's nothing like the elegance of a clean black vehicle.

Can you shed some light on the wheels on your EX? Make, size, affect on performance, etc? They look very sharp. Sorry if you had posted that elsewhere. Thanks.

You are right. He will be adding the factory aero kit and some lighter 20s. Only available suspension for the FXs is the H&R springs so that is probably something he will be getting down the road.

Like I said before, I liked both cars. The trunk space of the FX is not much bigger than the EX, but the rear passenger leg room is huge compare to EX. I am 6'3"and overweight and trust me if someone want to seat behind me in my EX, good luck! But with the FX it's very comfy.

I have nothing again both cars. I think FX looks meaner than the EX and more upscale in a way... However most girls I know liked the EX more so there is no way I am going to switch.

Wheels are OZ Canyon 18x8 +40mm offset. Wheels are made in Italy and I got them at a great deal. They are factory TPMS compatible and I used the factory 18" tires. Each wheel is about 5lbs lighter than the stock 18 when I weighted them. The lower offset pushes the wheel out a little which should help cornering and the look... LMK if you ahve any other questions.

Non factory rims will not harm your warranty or the reliability of the car (unless you are buying cheap quality wheels)Most bolt on part won't harm your warranty or the reliability either... I have never had any problem with cat-back exhaust system, air filter, even suspension components from the dealership warranty repairs. What "might" harm your warranty is by chopping off your stock resonator and replace stock bulbs with aftermarket HID kits... I have seem aftermarket HID blow and no one will warrant those headlights

first off i think Eibachi was pointing out your original premise which was

"I've literally ran out of things to do to my EX... so sinking my teeth into a new project should be fun."

in which case he is at no fault whatsoever. in which he points out a slew of performance mods available now for the skyline wagon, also fab options with kits already made for a VQ35HR engine ([GRE11520094])

now let's dissect the following - "some tint and a set of straight pipes I will then be set.

Umm 2 things I like to keep intact... My warranty and My vehicles reliability.

I HATE NON FACTORY RIMS...

Any other bright ideas out there for my car CHIEF?"

first off, for a guy who seemed to go out his way to further blind himself by getting 8000k+ (everyone with exp knowss that hids stop functioning properly past the 7500k lumens and u end up not being able to see as well, especially in rain/foggy conditions) HIDS, very dark tints..etc etc, for you to hate non- factory rims.....well that either begs the question that you don't know squat about cars or you're just that dumb. Of all things to dislike non-factor, i would say rims would be one of the first things i hate about factor. Most of the time they are production made rims from the same mold that some other aftermarket company had. Unless you specifically liked the design of a factor rim....there is no difference. ~ or unless you wanted to keep factory rubber which you didnt.

moving on now ~ straight pipes on your 50s? well last i checked, unless you some how dupe or defoul the o2 sensor going full catless and all straight will void you of any warranty should you end up with any problems. but that's besides the point...

truth is you could do anything and work around the system.....which i am inclined to believe eibachi knows, and that you either know somewhat or are ignorant about.

i could banter on and on, but to keep things short ~ i think your wishlist is already a good point on how you really havent "run out" of ideas.

Stillen intakebulley ecu tune ~ tho i do not see an applicable V6 map but i havent contacted that companyCat back setup ~ if anything...between teh FX and the EX, the EX would benefit the most from letting the dual exhaust breathe better since it is a known fact that the dual setup is pinched to have less noise in cabin and contribute to a lost of 9HP and 15 lb tq.stiffened sway barssuspension/coilover reworkgrounding kit

are all things you could do without voiding or ruining the warranty/reliability of your car that you have not done yet....so first said premise is moot.

aesthetically the sky's the limit, so i wont go there.....

i dont think eibachi meant anything bad in his original comment but you seemed to see a need to fluff up your feathers and stroke your e-peen....

tho i don't know either of you, based on your thread about what you do to make your EX perform better/when you track or w/e...... i pray for your safety, and whomever buys your EX, and for your safety in the FX50s.....looking at ur profile i couldn't help but notice ur age. Look, i was just like you, young and inexperienced, got my 350Z at 17, my TL at 19....did a bunch of crap to both, the 335 at 21.....completely messing that one up.... the whole time i was just thinking how much more of an expert i had become at cars....far from it

i think you need to take a chill pill, accept that in terms of credibility, eibachi has more backing than you, and probably stop swapping out your steering fluid

JCL622 - You reminds me when I was young too... I was really fortunate that my parents bought me a E320 when I got into college. To make it fast I went to dealership and got myself a "Kompressor" emblem from the SLKs... That was really stupid

we've all been through that phase, so I'm not really bashing Rio just pointing out that we've been where he's been.

haha, actually my parents never paid for my cars....complicated and long story so no need to delve into it!

on the other hand i never did stick TURBO and all over my cars...but i did do dumb things like gut the whole car, turbocharged VQ35 .....before it became an actual viable option...etc etc...oh yea...and NOS...ironically with all the crap i did, i tried to keep the outside as stock as possible..i'm a huge fan of sleeper looking cars.

the 335 i think the Dinan pretty much f***ed up my car. I know there are plenty of stories of it working etc etc, but something happened and it really messed up.

the TL...haha god..i dont even wanna go into it...maybe some other time.

see! we all make mistakes.......i for once am actually enjoying the feeling of all stock and the COMFORT of it all...lol ....tho i really am tempted to pull apart the headlight housing and see what type of lens is used for the projector.... i love ZKW lenses, and the clarity is so much better
