Who else is using 'lawn and garden' batteries? I've got one for a riding mower in my car. Believe it or not it even cranks fine in the winter.

Since they are sooo tiny they are all built to gold standard. I forewarn you that most autoparts stores only stock 1 or 2 so you'll have a little trouble finding em. They are rated at 370CCA. Switching from the standard S13 battery to the Miata sees my SR ever so slightly harder to startup. This difference might be exaggerated once it gets cold though. The Miata battery will run you like $91 bucks after tax.

I went to my local hardware store and got a lawn mower battery its 375 cold crank or what ever, it was only 40 bucks and so far my car starts every time with no probs. I also placed mine right next to the intercooler piping its a very right fit but it works.

I still don't understand why the **** 240 owners are so damn cheap.

"I have an SR that cost me xxxx.xx so I'm going to put a ****ing lawn mower battery on it! YEA!"

I also love seeing other people's battery relocation. Makes me sick.

My Miata battery has about 375cc which was just about the same as my old battery. Ryon, I have no clue what you're talking about regarding it taking longer to start. Mine starts just the same as it used to, lightning speed start-up.

why piss your money away when you can have something that works just as well for much cheaper? I just find it ironic that you chastise people for cheaping out when you could have popped for an odyssey.

and what about other people's relocations make you sick?

I'd expect an electrical engineer to know that all batteries aren't created equal. Besides it was an ever so slight change that "might be exaggerated by the cold." Find a surprise in your cheerios this morning?

odyssey's are where its at because they're SEALED. If you want to flop them on their side, no problem. I checked at a parts store and a battery for a honda civic was like $90 or somthing, an odyssey has half the size and $106, with bolt on terminals

The diff between the civic battery and a lawn tractor battery is just the sicker on the side (same size and cca) and about a 50% surcharge for the privilege of it being an "auto part"

in answer to the question, my odyssey battery measures 7"x7"x3" weighs 13.5 lb and 350cca

The only lawn mower batterys we have here do not have the correct terminal post to use in a car. I bought my Miata battery because it fits by my intercooler piping with out any problems. When it comes time for me to relocate my battery I'll opt for a dry cell, probably Optima Red.

If you want to see a poorly done battery relocation check this out. http://nismokc.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8745

Hey where did you get the odyssey battery at? Does it fit fine with the sr20 swap with a front mount, if you leave it up front?

the terminals are different but a lil screw fixes that right up,and when i went to an auto parts store they only had one or two that didn't have enough to crank. So the local hardware store had like 3 different kinds and it was cheaper for the same thing.

I plan on using a little kinetic powercell...and It's going in da hatch...I already got started on the relocation...but this whole shorter days and freezing my balls off thing and workin for me...and instead of just adding a wire to the system like your friend did on the other forum...I just installed a circuit breaker as a coupler (cut the whole thing off). Makes as a good safety measure and then I don't have random terminals chillin my engine bay going zap zap across my chassis.

<---- Miata battery in the engine bay

But I live in Florida, so CCA's are a mute point.
