pixelcarart.com

find a base for your car and go from there or just ask one of the dudes on there to make one for you. FYI: you have to join to view stuff

depends how artistically talented you are.

most people use "bases" aka stock versions of a 240 (there are bases for pretty much every car in the world) and add mods from there.

it's actually quite fun. I made mine!

go to pixelcarart.com or pixelcarlife.com (same s***, really) and get started.

just don't go there and make a thread saying "im not really good at this stuff so heres a pic of my car now someone please make it for me"....

because that is a douche move, and you will be called out as such.

try your luck at it... it's quite addicting.

that's weird dude... I joined a few months ago no real problems at all. it took a good 3 days to be accepted though, the admins are bums with that junk.

you don't really need the site to do this though... it just helps get pointers and advice and tutorials on some things.

i'll try to get you the link to the "base" database.

here guys.

http://database.mangacars.fr/c...age=9

look through the pages, theres a few more s14 bases not just on that one page.

pick which one you think looks best and start up. joining the forums will really help you figure out how to do some stuff, especially if you're only using paint. (in fact, a lot of the hardcore guys will say never use anything but paint, because photoshop tends to f*** stuff up... it's better to be meticulous and get every pixel how you want it.... aka the whole idea behind pixelcars.

good luck. have fun.

well, go try it out man. that's how I learned.

you gotta understand basic lighting/shading techniques and keep working on it till you think it looks good.

also, it's important to really blend in your work with the use of many similar shades... this is what makes the cars look so good. i think they call it anti-aliasing... basically not having any rough or abrupt edges.

i wish i could explain to you how to change the paint color on the car.... but it takes way too long... so just work on lowering the car and flopping some wheels/whatever mods you want on until you can figure out how to accesss the forums.

Damn, how the eff do you guys do that? I tried it and it's way too hard. I tried Paint and Photoshop! I don't think making it all black would look right either. Oh well...

it's a start...

to re-paint a pixel car the easier way, there is a technique... it just takes way too long to explain... lol. you are doing it the HARD way... although, I had to do the bottom half of my car using the hard way as well (the sil-coupe bases are two tone)

on the original base car, you should notice a shading chart.... make yourself a shading chart just like it, but with whatever color you want the car to be instead.

then, systematically replace the old colors for the new colors using the ERASER FILL method. i think thats what its called anyway.

heres a short description of what im talking about:

step 1: make your shade chart

step 2: take the eyedrop tool and LEFT CLICK the original color from the bases shade chart.

step 3: with the eyedrop tool again, RIGHT CLICK the NEW color from your new shade chart.

step 4: get the eraser tool, HOLD THE RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON DOWN and erase over the car. you should notice that the old color is being replaced with your new shade.

step 5 plus: keep doing this till you get all the colors done, and voila! your pixel car has been professionally painted.

hope this helps. cuz I ain't typing anymore in here. lol. you guys just need to join the forums over there if you're really interested in this hobby. like I said, it can be a lot of fun when you get the hang of it all.

just FYI, I was REALLY surprised to find out how much work went into these things.

I thought there was just some random mod generator where you picked your car, what color, how low, and what wheels/mods you wanted and it made it for you.

but, I'm glad I got into it and found out how hard it can really be. makes you appreciate them a lot more, and makes you really proud of your work!

mangacars FTW!

MUCH better! wheels are distorted, and the paint could still use some blending.. but you got the hang of taking a base and making it your own. keep goin with it!
