Yeah, it's a cheaper way of doing it but I prefer spending the extra money and getting the OEM one from Nissan. It looks cleaner and blends with the car better. Just a matter of opinion I guess.Codelicious wrote:Putting an LED in your cup holders is actually pretty cool because if you put a water bottle in it it will illuminate that color. It's interesting.
You can go to CarToys and buy 2 single LEDs for like $5 or so (that's all you need. 1 per holder). Than all you have to do is drill a hole in the bottom of the cup holder and than slide them in. You might want to out something over them like some plastic incase you spill though but it's up to you.
Take pictures if you do it
The OEM one has a button that you press to turn on. It's installed above the driver side cupholder. Hold the button down for 2 seconds, it cycles through 20 different colors. There are also LEDs installed in the cup holders, they operate the same way as the footwell LEDs. It's clean, nice and worth the money IMO.Codelicious wrote:How do the dealer ones work..?I didn't know that there was another way of doing it.
Oh yeah I just figured that the button installation would be a given. I'm not really a fan of having the bunch of different colored lights inside just because my "theme" is Orange. I have all of the LED's I need but I just haven't gotten around to installing all of them. The only one that is installed right now is the underglow.VersaMG08 wrote:The OEM one has a button that you press to turn on. It's installed above the driver side cupholder. There are 20 different colors, but when you change the color, it's just one color it cycles through. You can leave it on one color if you want so you don't need to change them.Codelicious wrote:

Maybe I will go buy some LED's for the cup holders and I will do a DIY on how to do them (not ghetto). I'll try and find some LED's to were maybe I wouldn't have to drill in the cup holder to get it positioned in it.
MCDs is the lumen measurement for most LEDs. The higher, the brighter. I wouldn't worry about getting too bright as mcds is a very small measurement of lumens.jangelj wrote:I posted this in the other thread about lit cupholders, but I'll post it here, too, just in case:
I want to add a couple leds for my cupholders, and maybe a couple white ones hooked to the dome light that turn on when the door opens.anyway, I was looking at superbrightleds.com and have a question.
How many mcd's do I want. For an organge cupholder light, I have no idea the difference between 1500 or 18000 (they don't offer that range in orange, but I have idea what is what).
Also, do the leds in their component section have resistors? i don't think so. If not, do I need to just get something from their "bulbs" section?
Not to be a pain, but if someone more knowledgeable can post a link to a superbright page with a decent product, I should be good to go.
also, Is there an issue just drilling a hole the same size as the bulb and then pushing the led into it? If these put out any heat won't they melt the plastic?
