Considering what day it is, I think the only solution is secession of the soda states. DON'T FIZZ ON ME, MUTHERF*CKERS.

I've noticed that most "soda" drinkers also put ketchup (or catsup) on hot dogs. You are all dead to me. Two wrongs do not make a right.

Its Soda, and it will always be, Soda.

Don't give it to your kids (soda).

Catsup has a place on hot dogs following a certain theme.

Coney, Manhattan, and Chicago dogs do not have catsup. But a preparation of catsup, yellow mustard, and sweet relish is perfectly acceptable on a hot dog with or without cheese, providing the bun is not poppyseed and no celery salt, sport peppers, or saurkraut is used.

So you're saying catsup is ok on a hot dog when it's not a hot dog?

I'm saying that I use "soda" and "pop" interchangeably, and people who get hung up over what you call a damned soft drink or what you do and don't put on a hot dog must not have enough to otherwise productively occupy their time. :)

Either that or we've solved all of the other issues in our lives. Think about it...

For the record, what does secession have to do with space travel?

Great!

Can you explain "jimmies"?

Why some people in south Jersey call them that bottles my mind.
It stretches a lot further than Jersey. We called them Jimmies in RI too.

We also called these:

bubblers.

So what you're trying to say is that you want to engage me in a fist fight

Over here, Coke and Pepsi are called cola. Which is what they are. Colas.

Calling all cola "coke" is ridiculous. It's like calling all inline skates "Rollerblades", or wheels "rims".

Like MOD pointed out, the soda name comes from the base of the fountain drinks. Pop comes from the sounds it makes, much like "pop rocks" are called as such.

Not all sodas are colas, either. I.E. Sprite, Mt Dew and 7-Up.

Now, does it bother me to the point of becoming aggravated? No. But, I do find it an interesting point that it has different names in different parts of the U.S.

I already wrote my congressman. I figure if they have the resources to confiscate Skylines, they have enough time and money to enforce language regulations. :D

Not surprised... RI has like 9 dialects on its own. What part are you from again? I wanna say Westerly... which is barely RI to begin with ;)
Although I will admit, your DMV is hands down better than any other in the state.
