More questions... Im about to put my timing chain covers back on and it seems that Nissan calls out for part number, 999mpa7007 sealer, which nobody has in stock anywhere around here. Is there something that is universal out there that will work for this? I need sealant for timing chain covers, upper aluminum oil pan, lower steel oil pan. Im sure there is something that is made out there? Or does Nissan have a secret recipe for this magical sealer?

Thanks

I think any RTV will do. I perfer to use the grey stuff instead of black because its way better and thicker. You should probly post in the 240sx/Silvia section

Hate to say it but Hondabond is a highly recommended RTV. MOst Honda dealers should carry it. If not Permatex Import Gray is what I used in the past with good results.

Ok thanks,
say, have you had any experiance replacing timing chain tensioners? I gonna be a little stuck when i get to the lower tensioner, it pushes against a long chain guide. I have heard something about pushing in the piston and insering a pin to hold it tight. Are you familair with this?

Yes, I have heard of holding the tensioner piston in place with a pin. I have one I saved from my old Nissan tech days. It looks like a basic tack but has a longer pin with no sharp point. I bet a t-pin from a fabric shop would work just as well.
