now for the motor...after the last motor desinigrated on the freeway with a huge fireball and parts flying everywhere...i decided to build a ka24de-Turbo..as most of you know, there is no cookie cutter kit to build a ka-t setup..so what you see is my best effort with a few 1-off mods to get the job done.

specs:
supertec 8.6:1 pistons
BC duel springs and Ti retainers
BC 272 cams (stage3)
ferrara+5 over valves
K1 rods
garret gt2860r turbo
Turbosmart raceport blow off valve
turbosmart manual boost controller
topfeed injector convertion
850cc denso injectors

here she is in the bay..a few views

gota love those hockey puck motor mounts :)
Image

here is a vew of how i ran my coolant lines for the turbo..hope you can see it good enough.
Image

Image

this is a vew of the clearence gained by using hockey puck mounts to lower the engine by 1.5 inches.
Image

this is a view of the clearence from the master to the manifold thanks to hockeypuck mounts,no melting that master resevior!

here are a few more pics i took this morning, i wish i saved the ones while i was actually building this car..just so you all know, and i make this clear..i have crashed this car sliding probly 20 times and put her back together..lol..she looks rough..but drives strait as an arrow!

here is a pic of the fuel cell i have installed over a large hole, the old owner decided to drill 1 inch holes for mounting a speaker bok..he went throu the fuel tank.

Image

this is a pic of the dash and the mod to the steering column , notice the tilt part goes allmost to the roll cage.

thought you all would like to see the welds up a little closer..here are a few pics..i droped some paint over the new welds to protect them from the winter conditions till spring when i repaint the inside via the roller method.

you probly notice the black ash marks, thats from the body glue being burnt away.

It's verry difficult to get that stack dime look with a high powerd mig, wish i had a tig.but im stuck with a miller 375 mig.

she tossed a rod on the freeway at 4am omw to work..rod was bent like a ribbon, they were stock rods..225 to the wheels is all i could get out of her and it lasted 2 years pushed to the limits..extreemly decked head and block..10.5:1 pistons...15.1 cr...i think an injector failed and detonated..there was no shudder or anything..just a boom!..the rod cap took out my fuel line and the fuel cought fire via the manifold..hence the fire dmg..i had an extinguisher so the car was saved...the whole was so large throu both sides of the block , you could stick your arm throu it...blew the oilpan off, drivers side motor mount and the lower timing cover allso....i wasent even sad or remotly upset..it lasted 2 years, beat on, abused, raced dayly..i smiled knowing something better will come next :)

here is a few pics of the front set up, i took care to take pics of the boxed in LCA's , its a good efective mod for strength..im running (Yamato Garage) camber, caster, rucas gear..i love them..super thick and high quality..to bad there out of biz now :( ..i have wicked iner and outer tie rods..you may allso notice that the bump stop was removed and modifyed for more angle on the LCA's...i allso run Godspeed hyper RS coils..for the price i got em at..$300 nib..cant beat it.

ill pop pics of the rear when i have more time to do so.

That looks like a neater way to run the coolant lines, I think I'll redo em whenever I take my intake manifold out again.
I found a hydraulics shop that can make me some nice lines for fairly cheap, they're not AN but they'll do, so I think I'm good for now!

It's a shame Yamato is gone now.

ya, it is a shame man...Yamato gear is b0mber stuff, and it was so afordable...it was a true loss to the 240 comunity when they went out of biz.

This is weird to see haha. I am now owning this car. I took the cylinder head to a machine shop to get checked and saw your name engraved in it lol.

It's crazy to see the effort of the build.

I'm so happy someone is getting use out of her.i gave her up due to a fight with bone cancer. My body just can't handle the stress of tossing her side ways. I you have questions, just ask.

I'm not sure when you sold it. But I got it from a guy in Vegas that claimed to know little about it.

My biggest questions is the Fuel Pressure Regulator. The gauge reads 60 psi, but the Service Manual States 43 with no vacuum. Is that something you did?

The other huge thing is how you got the ECU tuned. When I did have this thing going the Air/Fuel Was reading around 14/16 at idle which I am guessing is the Fuel Pressure Regulator but without being able to take it to a tuner (no OBDII) I am a little guessing on what the culprit is.

I had the entire motor apart aside from the pistons and rods so far and I must say the pistons still look brand new. There was absolutely no build up anywhere in the combustion chamber.

Any info you have on the Fuel Press and Tuning would be invaluable. Having direct access to the builder is also a major relief.

Do you by chance still have this 240SX?? I'm Liquid_cools little sister and I've been trying to hunt the 240 down since he passed. I'd love to buy her back, or even just a PART of the car.
