linkage problem?

i recently got a b13 xe basically for free all i had to do was tow it ,reason y i got it so ceap is because the previous owner said that he was on a highway exit shifting from 3rd to 2nd nd heard a loud noise nd after that it was stuck in second nd decided to get rid of it .After picking it up i looked into why tha happened nd it turns out the rear mount was not tightened down nd the bracket/brace to the engine from the rear mount was off ,i got new mounts nd all associated parts and after instaling the linkage seemed bent so i went to nissan and ordered the shift rod but when i installed it it couldnt reach the shifter no matter what ,i got the stationary one also nd still nothing its off by like an inch ,if you extend the trany yoke it still cant fit ,what can be wrong got new linkages nd shifter mounts etc am i missing something>?
