what does a line lock do?

if its what i think your talking about its a system that alows you to keep the rear disk brakes from working and locking up the fron disk to allow for a brake stand/burn out.....

Doesn't it have something to do with auto trannies also? Like line conditioners and such?

A line lock is for drag racing. For burnouts and heating up the tires. All it does is lock up the front brakes (for RWD cars).

yes locks up the front wheels but doesnt it also keep the fluid from compressing the rear brakes so that your wheels wont lock up back there i read an article on them long ago but i forget the details about it

Line locks are also used for launching. With the front brakes engaged, you can load up the transmission a little bit to reduce the drivetrain shock and also not have to work about rolling through the staging lights before the green.
