do CA's have limp mode? it seems like thats what my 240's doing, it seems to be loading, and I dont know why, its pretty much stock other than FMIC, its shaking and studdering esp. under boost, i was thinking maybe it was a vac. leak causing a boost spike and the injectors not being able to handle the boost, but then my boost gauge at full boost only is reading 10psi. which is stock and fine, maybe its a MAFS problem, I dont know any insight would help me out, im kinda still learning with CA's i bought the car already swapped.

my limp mode was caused by the o2 sensor not hooked up right or it could be bad. common problem for limp mode.

it only does it under load, right? check the injector dropping resistor, i've got a long story about this and basically, if the engine loads up on boost and there's any interruption in flow to the resistor you'll get the symptoms you've described. at least, i did.

and i'm not totally sure about this, but i don't think in stock form this car has a limp mode. it might throw codes and that would make it run like a three legged dog, but being that it's obd1 they'd be pretty limited, however i could be wrong about that. basically, if there's something wrong, it just needs to be replaced. but like i said, not totally sure about this. hope this helps.

I got the problem fixed, it was running on 2 cyl's because it wasnt sparking due to the plugs on the coil packs having broken clips and falling out when i did a 3rd gear pull, theyre taped on very well with electrical tape now.

CA18de and ca18det definitely have a limp home mode.

I had an alternator fail on me once, and the battery stopped charging, When the battery voltage dropped below 10v, the car wouldn't rev over 3000rpm and it was really strange to drive.. The car got me home though :-) I was only 10 minutes from home when it happened.

fixed the alternator, recycled power connections to ECU, and problem fixed.

Regards,Chris

Yea, as dattodude stated, ALL Nissan ECU's starting with ECCS and after have limp home mode. There are many things that will initiate it, the most common is a MAFS failure.

i stand corrected, but just as an aside, in all the black box, home depot, wood screwed together contraptions i've made, i've never triggered anything like that.
