Strange thing happend to me while driving, was at a red light and went to accelerate and then the car went into a limp mode. Couldn’t accelerate over 2100 rpm and stuck in 2nd gear. Pulled over turned the car off and every thing was normal for a few minutes. Happend to me again. So turned it off again and went on my way. It kept going into limp mode again and again. What I noticed is in p and neutral I could rev the engine up and my light would get really bright. So I suspected battery. Changed the battery and same thing again. Let the car sit over night and now it was dead. So I checked the alternator. 13.98v while running. Here’s where I found my problem. I hooked up my multimeter and put it against my windshield and Reeved the engine up. 17.65v was what I was getting. I changed that out and returned my battery and never had a problem. Hope this helps someone. Took me two days to figure it out. This was one most bizar problems I had ever encountered.

Oh wow, it was spiking to 17.65V while revving? Sounds like the protection circuit wasn't working like it should! Scary stuff! Glad you got it figured out!
