Hi, I'm looking at buying a 2000 Qx4
I read that one of the options was a Limited slip differential.
How can I tell is this option was purchased when I go and look at the vehicle?

You could jack up the rear end and try spinning one of the rear wheels by hand. If the other tire spins the same way, you have LSD. If it spins the opposite way, you don't.
Alternatively, you could just buy oil with LSD additives and put it in. LSD additives in an open diff won't harm anything.

Thanks guys, I'll check it out. I see it on Sat. I'll report back
oh, i know about the strut housing recall is there . So i'll check out the strut housing.
Is there anything that may be an outstanding problem, beside the most typical things that I should double check for

Looks good! Have it inspected for the strut housing corrosion recall ASAP if it hasn't been yet. It'd be wise to change out all fluids & filters as well. What year is it?

Thanks.
I'll get all the fluids changed soon. I'll have to check the records to see if the PO took it in, I have a stack of Maint. records!
It's a 00 . The one thing I forgot to mention is the drivers door is harder to shut than the others, it almost feels like it's not quite aligned?
Oh and needs the front right 1/2 changed (the boot is ripped) and I'll repack/replace the bearing while I'm at it.

Mine is misaligned too. Door hinges probably sagged over time/heavy usage. Although my Pathfinder was hit at the driver's side so that may also have something to do with it.

so i've never done a 4 wheel drive service (never had 4 wheel drive on my cars) and was looking through the service manual to figure out what to do and found this! this is how you should be able to identify if your have an LSD or not.
"I Limited-slip differential identification.
1. Lift both rear wheels off the ground.
2. Turn one rear wheel by hand.
3. If both rear wheels turn in the same direction simultaneously,
vehicle is equipped with limited-slip differential." Page 27.

My 97 QX4 had the same sagging drivers door problem. I just opened the door, and slid a 2000lb floor jack under it with a 3ft long 2x4 and jacked it up slightly to just above proper alignment, let it down, and shuts like butter.
