So.. Im looking to buy a 01 to 03 pathfinder, I have read a little on this and found that there was a limited slip axle option on this path.. Is there any way to tell if the path im looking at has one ? I know I could just spin the tires a bit and see if the both spin however im looking for a different way ! I have a 94 that has the limited slip.. And I would like on in my new path. Thanks !

Oh, also If I were to get a path without one would it be easy to add this ? I know it was a cheap option from the factory.. I think it was like 300 bux ? Anyways, thanks !!

An easy way is to crawl down on the ground and look at the rear diff. You should see an orange sticker saying "USE LSD OIL ONLY" then you know it has one

My 01 had an LSD sticker on the pumpkin. Was told to switch a pathy to LSD would take replacing the entire rear-end.

Correct, to equip a Pathy with OEM LSD, you need to replace the rear axle. However, to equip a Pathy with an ARB locker, you need to start off with a non-LSD rear carrier.

Nope, to equip a pathy with an LSD all you need to do is replace the 3rd member and make sure it has the same gear ratio. To equip a pathy with an ARB Air locker, you can have both an open or an LSD carrier since the air locker replaces the entire carrier.

I thought it just fits inside the carrier?either way, they're pretty sweet

Nope the ring gear bolts to the air locker which replaces the entire carrier unit.

I understand. . I was thinking entire pumpkin when I was thinking carrier unit. I'd give my third nut for a couple air lockers.
