when my car is idling I hear this sound like a mouse/hampster running pretty fast on a squeeky exercise wheel... it is coming from the water pump pulley i believe... or is there a bearing inside the water pump??? I'd like to fix this annoying noise but wanted to c if anyone else had the prob. it's not a screeching nose like a loose belt would make... another way to describe the noise would be if you turned an old wheel barrow upside down and spin one of the squeaky *** wheels... that's what it sounds like, hahah.

it's getting really annoying now, can someone please give me some suggestions?? I changed the water pump today and it did not fix it. it's kinda loud. I am hearing it from right in the middle front of the engine... near the water pump..

check the pulley that goes along with the A/C belt(A/C belt tensioner), mine did sounds which for couple of mins i though was something inside the block.

unless it is a ticking noise.

i dont have an ac compressor on there... the guy that owned this car before me took it out. how did you fix the noise? tighten the belt... loosen it? It's not the screeching sound of a loose belt though...

alright..... I decided to try something... I could not figure out if the water pump was making the noise so I took the belt off of the ps pump and water pump... cranked it and the whirring, squeak noise was STILL there... It doesn't sound like it's coming form the alternator at ALL.. it sounds like it's coming from right above where the water pump is... and I hear a little metal clunking inside... like something's loose.. timing chain guide maybe???? What's causing the squeaky wheel sound .. .anyone know?
