I posted something over at the dsmtalk site as well but I'm curious how much having a Rear end aligned might cost. I havent had time to call the Dealer place and just ask for estimate on what they do. I went to have my front end aligned but turned out its fine. My rear end is quarter off of alignment and I was told to make it align right something about a shaft has to be put in to make it straight or something. I'm just wanting to know how much you think it might cost....

My car was bought used and off a dealer that fixed/repairs cars so no warranty, it will have to come from my pocket to pay for. Its not a major thing but later on when I can afford it. I've been told Expensive but when I ask someone else they say trust me its expensive. I just found out about the rear being messed up, I wish I known that before I bought the car 3 or 4months ago. :( The shop said they be glad to repair the alignment but its messed up bad that out of their league and they recommend the Dealership.

Hmmm, it sounds to me like you have rear end damage and a suspension part may be messed up. Your car is FWD and n/a, right? I can't imagine what would be so difficult about a dummy rear end and setting it straight, even with replacing a part or two. That is unless there is some voodoo trick to a DSM suspension. I would think any competent tech could solve your problem, so check around. I think you're getting snowed.

Get an actual estimate from a couple of places and post it up. I am friends with several DSM mechanics, so once you provide the specifics of your problem I can help you figure it out.

An alignment that is out of spec is a big deal. It can make the car drive erratically, wear tires quickly and generally be a bad experience. You shouldn't get charged for an estimate most places.

Well, the thing is at first when I bought it I thoughts that the car had been wrecked or in some accident like fender bender. The front fender down at the bottom is cracked which mom is going to fix with some fiber glass. My mom said it was the front end that was messed up I said no its the rear. When I drive it and slow down I've always heard like a rub noise of some sort, being told now that the rear alignment is off by a quarter has now changed my suspensions that it has been in some fender bender. The guy that sold it to me the car, before I came back to give a sure deal I would buy it, he changed the tires off of it. The back tire has a lil chunk not a big chunk not even that but just a fingernail of tire scrapped out for something where its like it been ran up on. I have 3 small dents on the side by the hood part. I had to replace my axle on the right side today b/c it was really bad ( I decided to clean out a ditch one day :D which partial my fault). If you ever see the list of stuff I've replaced your eyes would bug out. The car is almost like new now from what I have done to it

2,000 more miles and the lady said bring it back for rotation since its FWD I'm more likely to burn the front tires than back. I'm going to replace the wheels and tires but probably wont be til this summer.

Yeah its snowing here and I haven't been able to get outside while its nice to change my plugs. I have sockets for it and all. I say I might call Saturday to the Chrysler place and ask them. I hope its not 2arms and leg that will cost me. If only i took before shots when i first bought it and compared it to it now. THat car was a junky inside but I spent 3hours out in the rain cleaning the seats, trunk...I had a bucket of water and was in the trunk cleaning it. But I'm still looking at another car ;)

Well, like I said, get a few estimates and post up what they say the problem is and we'll go from there. Cool?

Poor sabrina - Wish you lived closer.

Take it to another alignment shop - Tell 'em you want a 4-whel alignment. Shouldn't be more that $60, once you're there they'll b more inclined to fix it than turn you away.

Well, I'm still going to call the chrysler place anyways, there arent to many places I trust around here. I took my car to this Maggart Tire Co to have my valve cover gasket, waterpump, thermostat, new plug wires, idler pulley, 2 timing belts, 3 other belts....all of that costed me 546.21. 109 to fix my exhaust b/c in the middle there around the uhhh..mind went blank, anyways it had rusted into. 10dollars to have alignment check. 132 for new radiator (uhh figure 9gallons of antifreeze I used to keep the old radiator going), the car still uses oil from anywhere 3 to 6weeks I have to add a quart of oil. My caliper slid up on my wheel while backing up and had a friend come over to fix it, my old brakes were only 2 paper sheets thick :D And today 186.00 for axle work done. Its got new overflow hose on it as well.

See, the car is almost new lol with all the work I'm having done to it. I bought me a manual book today to read. I bought me some new plugs and I plan to learn to do that myself (bosch platinum2). I was told not to use those on a turbo b/c they cant take the heat and will burn up fast, something like that. Anyways, it drove good today but still has a slight pull to the right in it *shrugs* but good thing is it will be fine to drive to the meet. I was assured today. :)

shouldnt be too much to get the rear back inline , its solid beam constriction , on my lebaron they placed a 5 dollar shim in the left side hub to get its toe setting back where its supposed to be , now if the whole beam is trashed then id say your screwed on getting it fixed cheap , and hearing its been wrecked id defineatly say it could be trashed , and then who knows if its mounting points are messed up

i suggest a bodyshop check it over , there used to dealing wth stuff like this after a crash , they might even be able to put the car on a jig and strighten it out if the mounting points are jacked up

but all in all it doesnt sound real serious so a good alignment shop shoulbe be able to shim the hub and cure the problem

Well, I had someone do a carfax report (you can find it in the other General Chat on here, uhh the 240 something one) and it came back a clean record with no accidents. not unless they had a small traffic accident and never reported it. I found papers of the previous owner in the car and showed her going to court for traffic violations and speeding tickets.

hmm , whatya say brinni ? here pull my finger

just playin briini

see if my offspring learned to type they would be significantly beatter than i , as i lack the knollage to operate this complicated peice of machinery called a god damned cursed wireless peice of **** keyboard

not to mention reproduction between brinni and i could only occur if the female natural instinct to run away screaming could be quelled thru the use of copius ammounts of alcohol ( aka the ugly bitter old mans secret weapon)

she does live in tenesse , thats about 12 hours from my pad in fl , too bad my DSM knollage isnt that great

is it turbo ? fonrt drive turbo would be fairly quick , being light and all , as opposed to that overwieght pig of a awd car

I've been told its not turbo but yet I done a search on my car and it said the car had 135hp which is my bragging rights on cardomain.com. The car as I know is all stock with factory parts still on it nothing has been changed out except the lil shifter i changed and headlights and lil small things. Nothing drastic. I mean to me I think its fast for being 91 model with 164,000 miles on it now and still running and nothing major as in needing any engine repairs and such. I wouldnt try to take on someone who had a turbo b/c I know since I've never raced anyone that I wouldnt win and against a turbo since as I know mine isnt.

Like I said, I'm driving this car of mine to the KY meet in March. Sooo...if your their you'll know its me lol I would be scared to see a lil of myself running around. If I had kids they be monsters.....I was a lil devil when I was smaller. I carved cuss words in the window seal, I wrote them and spelt them out, I knew how to spell f*u*c*k at age of 4. :D I've been to Florida but thats been couple years now but would like to go back, I actually like it down there. Hey Stoneage, doesnt matter to me ;) j/k

remeinds me i need to get tickets for that

you ARE from TN , you use lil before every word ....

Hey Repoman, I called today at the Jeep, Chyrsler place and the guy said be like $29 bucks except their machine to fix it is broken still, and other than that, my car shouldnt need it unless something has been broken and half *** repaired underneath it.:freak Freeman Tire said soemthing about fixing up a shaft back behind the wheel and weld it to make it align even instead of being off by quarter. :help

It makes me think now to just forget about it. Its not a problem but if its off lignment that isnt good either.

Okay, I got something to ask if you think its possible. My car is ran thru the bank which i make payments to them. My friend Larry wants to buy my car as I know of. All I hear is how he likes my car, how he like to have it and last night said he might give from 2500 to 3000 for it. This i dunno if he is just saying or if he really does. But I thought about talking to my banker (since he knows us really well).

My question to anyone is you think its possbile to see if he is for sure to buy and take the money i get for the car and pay off the loan and go get me another car :D and finance it thru....would a bank or close banker(the bank dude has helped us out alot and although I have account elsewhere he let me get a car run it through him and make cheap payments (102.66 for 18mths current now)) let me try to do that or would you think I have to pay it off before selling?? I do plan if I can to take however much he buys my car for pay it off sign it over to him and let him have fun with it. Go out and buy me a Nissan (my choice) finance it and just...enjoy!

No - You're not looking closely.

Tino, being the effeminate little a$$weasel that he is, has copied my avatar, modified it to reflect his pacifist, anti-authoritarian upbringing and has adopted it as his own.

This is the thanks I get after I defended his pale and gender-confused little butt against the big bad wolves threatening to rip him into tiny little microwaveable TinoBites.

I'm gonna snatch him through a knothole.
